Host Leaving Dancing with the Stars
We all have our favorite reality shows. For many Americans, it’s Dancing with the Stars. There’s no other show that allows you to see well known celebrities show off their moves and personalities in their dancing.
Being the show isn’t rehearsed, it’s very important to have a host or co-host that’s sharp on the fly.
Samantha Harris is one of those people. She has been successfully co-hosting the show with Tom Bergeron for eight seasons.
But she has recently announced that she will not be returning when Dancing with the Stars begins its 10th season on March 22, 2010.
There are several rumors as to why Samantha Harris is leaving the show, but she states it’s simply because she wants to focus on other things. Many feel the primary reason might have a lot to do with her new role on The Insider, which will require more time and work.
In the meantime, ABC’s Dancing with the Stars will be in search of a replacement. Conrad Green — the executive producer of the show — has already begun his search. While nothing can be confirmed at this point in time, two names that keep being brought up on the web are Drew Lachey and Paula Abdul.

Thank goodness. Samantha is a one dimensional character that adds nothing to this show. She asks the same question to every couple every week. Boring. Paula – NO!! Drew – YES!!!
Get a life, and quit showing the world the only taste you have is in your mouth. It’s a tv show if you don’t enjoy who’s on it switch the channel.

The show is not about the hosts….they are just that….hosts……so who cares?
This is the best move yet! I’m sure Samantha is a nice person, but she is NOT quick on her feet as a co-host. I cringe everytime she asks a contestant a question or gives an opinion. This is just not her strength. She should move on. Drew Lachey had a fantastic chemistry with Tom Bergeron. They are quick witted and bounce well off each other’s comments. Drew has a real future. Don’t miss that opportunity Dancing With the Stars!!!

Won’t miss her a bit. I never knew what made her claim to fame was anyway. Was she ever on any other shows that anyone remembers other than DWTS? I vote for Drew. He’s cute, funny, and would do an awesome job!
Samantha Harris was a fitness competitor and was on several covers of fitness magazines and I believe she was even a Fitness Correspondent for Good Morning America. She isn’t famous at all, she was probably hired bc she was just a pretty face and she was cheap to hire. Acting she has never done.
Samantha was all right as a host; however, I had difficulty listening to her. Her voice does not come through as clearly as Tom Bergeron’s. Paula Abdul – no, come on, we’re all tired of her. Drew – possibly, but not dynamic enough – how would he look in a gown anyway? The show needs a female – how about some of the former dancers?
YAY!! Sorry, maybe that was mean but she is totally annoying. Yes, I’m sure she’s very nice but I record the show just so I can fast forward through her talking. LOVED Drew Lachey when he guested; I really hope they go with him.

This works for me! When she was gone having a baby, and Drew filled in, it was the funniest time of the entire show. So I say Bye-Bye Samantha and HELLO DREW! He would be great again, but PLEASE, NO PAULA.

Finally! I am sure Samantha is a nice person but she is horrible as a host. She is not quick witted like Tom Bergeron and she constantly tangles her words and her questions to the guests don’t make sense. Enough already. No Drew either. He has no personality. Get someone who can “Talk” and is witty and funny.
I agree with many of you. She is one dimenional not to mention she reminds of Elizabeth on the view. Too opinionated and straight arrow. I don’t like seeing her on the “Insider” either. She is so judgmental and watch– it’s these holier than thou people that usually get in the news too before it’s all over.
I’m with you Roz. She definitely has a holier than thou attitude to stars and pros alike, yet she’s standing there with that empty look in her eyes, contributing nothing but blabbing away. Network execs, beauty isn’t everything! I am so glad she’s going. Like so many others, I Tivo’d the show just so I could speed through her air time. Anyone would be better. Give us someone else like Tom who can give us a chuckle and make the viewing experience enjoyable.
Couldn’t be happier! Samantha is sooooooooo annoying and has never had an original thought in her life – at least not since she’s been on Dancing. She’s a better fit for the Insider – that show is so bad since they started those crazy debate things. Won’t even watch it anymore. And puhleeze – no Paula Abdul on DWTS – Drew is a much better fit. Paula too was annoying and Idol is a better show without her – don’t ruin Dancing by bringing her on – PLEASE!!!!!

I am glad that she is leaving, she is a nice person and I wish her well, but her comments were so stupid and felt forced. She asked the same questions all the time. A BIG NO to Paula, who I may add would be dumber then Samantha, but Drew a BIG YES! He would be great with Tom, which I hope they know that Tom could NEVER be replaced!
Samantha was okay. Please NOT Paula Abdul. She may have beneficial knowledge but the show would be about her. A good host for this show would be someone who puts the dancers in the spotlight. And someone who can enunciate clearly, which Paula doesn’t do.
If Samantha Harris has “successfully been co-hosting the show with Tom Bergeron for eight seasons” as is quoted in this article, why is everyone thrilled that she is leaving because they can’t stand her? I too thought she was a very poor pick as a co-host because she has no personality, warmth or conversation skills. Some of the questions she asked the stars made me cringe. So “sucessfully co-hosted” may not exactly be the correct terms to describe her exit. Maybe “someone in the front office thought she has nice arms and looked good in a dress” would be more like it.
Drew Lachey would be a great addition to the show. He has a great personality and would appeal to the tv audience more than Abdul.

Like many others, I am glad that Samantha will be leaving DWTS. I never really cared for her one-tone voice and her ‘perking up’ her upper part of her body when she was ‘front & center’ infront of the camera. I have heard that Paula is going to another show with Simon Cowell. Drew Lachey would be GREAT!! LOVE him! Lets just hope Cheryl (Burke) can keep off of him! ha!

Corky Ballas sure would be entertaining. He’s a pro who would be able to ask some good questions and hey, if he could hang tough with Cloris Leachman, he’s got to have a sense of humor and a spine!
I agree with many of you, nice pretty girl but annoying many times. Pleas, please not the bubblehead Paula or I will be forced not to watch my favorite show. (American Idol is much better without her silly chattering nonsense!) Nick is a good choice, but I’m sure their are lots of women out their qualified and capable to handle the co-hosting job!

This is great new’s! I pretty much was going to stop watching the show cause of her. I just can’t stand to look at her! She needs to leave the Insider as well. I would be happy if she disappears all together.
I agree with the majority…Samantha did ask dumb questions, similar to “How happy would you be if you won?” Duh. I didn’t see the show where Drew filled in, but Paula would be a disaster.
COME ON PEOPLE: I know you are entitled to your opinion, but Samantha was NOT that bad. She may have babbled, but she doesn’t deserve all this bad press. I wish her luck on her new endeavor. MY vote is for DREW. He is very funny, charming and I think he would make a great host on the show. I think the viewers should be responsible for picking the next host……

I was not partial to Sam, so I can not say I am glad or not to see her go. I REALLY hope they do not get Drew, ONLY because they do need a female co-host, in my humble opinion. I like Paula and all, but not quite sure if DWTS would be a good fit. I am hoping that they would get another female, my vote is for Melissa Rycroft. I dunno though, unfortunately we get to voice our opinions, but DARNIT they won’t listen!

I loved Samantha Harris. She is so beautiful and I think she handled herself well against Tom. I never once found her annoying. With Tom being so old and ugly, the show needs a female co-host. Drew is so last year already and sorry Paula, no can do. Get Julianne Hough to do it!
……….thank goodness…..I have never been a fan of Samantha. Tom Bergeron is absolutely hilarious and I think he and Drew would be terrific together. Paula is way to loopy……she had her 15 minutes of fame with Idol….it’s over. Tom and Drew!!!!

I never liked her. I only liked her hair. I thought she always came off rehearsed and stale.
I have to say I’m glad to see Harris go…I’ll spend a lot less time fast-forwarding on my DVR and may actually hear what is said now. I never thought she fit to begin with and am glad to see her move on…I don’t like the names being thrown around either for replacements. Paula would be off talking about inanimate objects and Drew, though adorable, isn’t that great of an announcer either. You need someone who can hold their own next to Tom, now there’s someone who is quick on his feet!
Show is boring anyway.Its on the way out. Its not reality when you parade someone in front of the camera. It becomes unreal,fake,phony. She seees the end to this show,so she is bailing out before its all over.just like Simon is doing on Idol…Face it people ITS OVER…..Thruth stranger than fiction…

Good Bye Samatha, you did a great job as co-host and I will miss you. Drew would make the better host since when Samatha was on baby leave he filled in and I thought he was great. Paula was good 20-25 years ago but now she just is ditzy. The few times I have seen American Idol, she was like acting drunk or high and that would not be a good mix to put with Tom. Julianne would be good too seeing that she does know dancing yes but she in concentrating more on her music then dancing but I do miss her on the show. Also the show needs to use more regular celebrities that have no musical or dance background what-so-ever that way all the contestants have a more equal ground to compete on instead of someone that has a musical background. Even though Drew, Mia and Donny were great it didn’t really give some of the other contestants a fair chance.

I agree that samantha sounds rehearsed or fake. You could tell if she liked the contestant or not as far as them being a personality, not their talent. I couldn’t see Latchey as as host I thought her sucked!
Try one of the past contestants, Try Donny, Marie, or Jane Seymour. Just a thought.

Samantha wasn’t that bad. I love Tom Bergeron he deserves an Emmy and I think Carrie Ann should leave she brings nothing to the show except for silly comments like she doesn’t know what she is talking about

I agree that it needs to be another woman & Julianne Hough is a good suggestion. She’s got the stage presence, dancing experience & knowledge, quick with & cute personality. She can also pull off the lovely gowns – something Samantha only did sometimes.

What about Melissa Rycroft hosting. Isn’t that what she went to school for. I think she would be a class act to follow Samantha Harris. She knows what its like on both sides which would give her incredible insight as to what to ask and bring to the show. As we all know you have to be ready for anything with this show. Keep a good show great.
Melissa Rycroft was the 1st person to come to mind. Samantha was pretty but not a good interviewer — glad to see her finally move on. Paula would be a huge mistake.

Paula would be an embarassment to herself & the show. I don’t know if she is drunk or drugged most of the time but she seems so out of it she wouldn’t be able to make it up & down the steps on the show without falling, let alone trying to get out a coherent thought.
Yawn! She was the weakest link on the show! I found her voice annoying. Dancing with the stars needs to think outside the box for her replacement with someone like Elizabeth Vargas, Katherine Zeta Jones, Wanda Sykes,or Mel B.

I also muted my tv when Samantha interviewed celebrities. She is just not a good interviewer, and to be frank, the way she tripped over her tongue every time she spoke, well, it was almost like having Paula Abdul Jr. on DWTS. That said, I can’t see the producers would want the original Ms. Abdul to take Samantha’s place. Enough already! Isn’t there a fresh face out there, another pretty girl who CAN speak properly, who needs a job? Perhaps Heidi Montag? I hear she has a fresh face these days…
