According to press reports, 52 year old Cynthia Bettis-Ware had a slight disagreement with her boyfriend, 47 year old Kevin Johnson, over an America Idol contestant.
Reports say that Cynthia stabbed her boyfriend seven times, five times in the back and twice in the chest with a butter knife when he disagreed with her over a contestant’s song selection. After stabbing him repeatedly, he was scalded with a cup of hot chocolate while trying to get the knife from her.
Johnson was able to get the knife away from Bettis- Ware then left the St. Petersberg Florida hotel they were staying in to await police help in the parking lot. Standing there bloody and burnt, Cynthia chased Johnson around the parking lot with a second knife until she was forced back into their hotel room by a crowd of on lookers. When police reached the scene, they were able to get the knife from her and take her into custody.
Johnson was taken to the hospital and treated for his wounds which were not as severe as they looked. Cynthia is being held on first degree attempted murder with no chance of bail. She is currently awaiting trial.
