Steven Tyler may seek a lawyer to sue his Aerosmith bandmates if they replace him with a new lead singer. Skip Miller, attorney for the singer, states that playing band members off against one another could destroy the band’s image.
In a letter written to band manager Howard Kaufman, Miller instructs Kaufamn to stop engaging in these acts and “conduct to the harm and detriment of your own client, Aerosmith, and our client who is one of its members.”
Miller insists that Tyler does not want any lawsuits but also says that legal action will be pursued for damages if necessary. He tells Billboard magazine that replacing Tyler would be like replacing Mick Jagger with another lead singer for the Rolling Stones and calls it absurd.
Steven is currently in rehabilitation, receiving treatment for an addiction to painkillers. He underlined his commitment to the band before leaving and dismissed earlier claims of wanting a break to pursue his solo career. Miller only wants Aerosmith’s future direction to be with Steven Tyler touring once again with the band and releasing a new album.
Also, according to Tyler’s attorney, a meeting was claimed to have taken place in January between Kaufman, John Branca, another attorney of Tyler’s, and Tyler’s manager Allen Kovac, which soon turned into an argument over whether or not to keep Tyler in the band. Kaufman stated that he did not think the singer should be a part of Aerosmith anymore, which Miller implied to mean that the band would be better off without him.
Miller is calling another meeting slated for February 9th with Aerosmith’s shareholders to discuss the future of the band, including a tour and a new album release later this year. Miller has also accused Kaufman of putting Tyler’s recovery at risk, especially during a time when Steven has committed to transforming his life so he can continue to become a part of the band he has enjoying performing with for many years.

As an avid Aerosmith fan for many years, I have endured many cancelled concerts, illnesses in the band, etc. The one thing I don’t think I WOULD endure is seeing Aerosmith without Steven Tyler.

Replacing Steven Tyler? OMG…are they crazy.. when someone says Aerosmith…first thing that comes to mind is Steven Tyler..his voice, his looks…the songs he sings…that’s Aerosmith… thats Aerosmith in itself….not the other members of the band…they are secondary…

All bands go thru there ordeals. One man does not make the band, but it is a major part to loses members is just not the same. If that was the case how is Guns & Roses now, with the lame azz. Just think that if Aerosmith, has a break-up that the name should be put down as it will never be the true band and sound that all have come to know & love.
That’s the kind of crap you get when you sell out and go corporate, it becomes what the shareholders want and is no longer about the music.

Did bands learn nothing from the Police. Let’s face it, all talented guys but without Sting there was no Police and without Steven Tyler there would be no Aerosmith it’s the voice and the face up front that most people know and remember. I am 73 years old, have heard the name Aerosmith a couple times, but have never heard them play and have never heard of Steven Tyler. Was he a good singer, or did he just look good, if you were doing drugs. That woman that had a million hits on youtube is a good singer and millions of peolple want to hear her sing, but I personally do not know one that wants to hear Steven Tyler sing. Leave it alone, nothing will change, no matter how nasty you get, it is all about money and how much they can get you too spend.
A band should not exist without its lead star, Steven Tyler, Change the name if the rest of the guys can’t wait. Pink Floyd was WAY better off without Syd Barrett and then again without Roger Waters. David Lee Roth held down Van Halen. Losing Steven Tyler would only be losing a voice, I have never seen him play an instrument and thats what music is right ladies and gentlemen? Yes, I am an old fart that is 63 years young. and have been rockin’ with Aerosmith since their beginning. Aerosmith without Steven Tyler is JUST another band. He gives the band the entertainment in his wild antics, and unmatchable voice that no other performer can match! Look at all the “old” bands that are still around i.e. Z Z top, the Eagles, Doobie brothers, Chicago, Heart, Steve Miller band, the Rolling stones, and so on. Many of them have had their ups, and downs, but by the most part, have stayed together and continue to perform the music I love. I say Aerosmith without Steven Tyler will be lost forever…Let Steve get his stuff together, and get healthy, and get on the road again to give us his all. Am looking forward to seeing the band back together again WITH Steven Tyler!!!!
One of my favorite bands went through several lead singers. To me, Journey is Steve Perry singing vocals since I grew up with him singing. Aerosmith for me is Steven Tyler singing vocals. But if the band wants to continue making music and Steven is unable to continue, then so be it. But if the band and the company can wait until Steven can perform again then AWESOME!!
It would be like watching Grand Funk without Mark Farner. They tried it, it doesn’t work. Mark Farner is doing very well on his own still playing all the old Grand Funk hits and you don’t even notice the other two missing. Steven Tyler could very easily do the same thing. Obviously Steve Tyler is Aerosmith.
How ’bout they replace him with Steven Seagall and rename the band Aerostrike.

There is no Aerosmith without Steven Tyler. He is their signature trademark. All of them compliment each other. There will be no more band without him. Sounds as if all the other members need to go to rehab. Somebody is more stoned than Steven here. And, any other rocker in the world that would stoop to the level of auditioning for his respected coveted spot is a piece of dirt. I pray the stockholders realize how hard that will hit them in their wallets should they choose to replace him and how much the rockers, us, the people who love Tyler and Aerosmith will boycott that change. If they can’t come to an agreement after all these years, and all of them have had their share of drug problems, then Aerosmith should be dissolved and all go their seperate ways. I can’t beleive his follow bandmates would even contemplate such a ridiculous notion. This needs to be nipped-in-the-bud immediately! I could not have agreed more wholeheartedly. They did produce one good album (Not great, now) and that was “Toys in the Attic.” Other than that, the rest of their work was garbage.

I listened to Aerosmith growing up. I think they are still an awesome band. I’m sorry to hear they want to replace Steven with someone else. The problem I have with that is, there is no replacement. Who else sounds like Steven? The sound of Aerosmith is mostly Steven Tyler. Why would I buy Aerosmith’s music without him? So Steven, do what you gotta do, without you.
