The Duggar family is already quite popular, thanks to their reality TLC series “19 Kids and Counting”. The family’s latest claim to fame came courtesy of the two eldest sons, John and Josh.
Joshua, who is 21 and John who is 20 were clearly at the right place at the right time that fateful Thursday morning. The two boys were in the office of their used-car dealer shop, located in Springdale, Ark when the heard a loud noise. Rushing out to check out the cause of the noise they discovered that an accident had occurred.
The office is located on the main business strip of the town and minor traffic accidents are quite common in the area. One of the cars involved in the three car accident, was driven by Glannetta Plascensia, with her grand daughter, Maddye Plascensia in the front seat.
After the collision, Glannetta Plascensia drove her car into the Duggar’s car dealer shop. Something must have spooked Josh because he immediately called 911. Josh told NBC News, “I saw her pull in, and that’s when I picked up and dialed 911…I knew something was wrong.”
While Josh gave details to the dispatchers, his younger brother John brought the unconscious girl into the office and administered CPR on her. John Duggar was quoted telling NBC, “This girl, just a few moments earlier, was just an ordinary little girl, and just a split second later she’s unconscious and not breathing,”
Josh is married to 21 year old Anna and they have a 3 month old daughter. He told NBC news, “Having a daughter of my own, I felt such a connection there… I was glad to have had some trauma training.” Both Josh and John have had experience volunteering as firefighters in Tontitown, Arkansas, their hometown.
4029TV.com reported that 6 years old Maddye Plascensia was eating a chicken nugget that apparently got stuck in her throat. She was also not wearing a seat belt and apparently hit the air bag of the car. They were able to keep her stable until the firefighters came and took over.
Maddye was airlifted to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital located in Little Rock. This is the same hospital where the last child of the Duggar’s, born premature is receiving intensive care. Maddye’s appreciative family was able to met the Duggars in the hospital’s lobby on Tuesday night.

SOMETHING DOESN’T SOUND RIGHT, IF SHE WAS CHOKING THEN CPR IS THE LAST THING YOU WANT TO DO?
actually cpr is exactly what you should do if the child is unconcious
awwww I hope the little girl was ok. That was very good of them to help like that.
What a neat story.. The Duggar kids were raised with such good values that you can tell they would do what is right without hesitation… They were brought up with great disclipine as well as a deep faith in God..
They are wonderful humble children..
WHAT WAS A 6 YEAR OLD CHILD IN THE FRONT SEAT OF A
CAR AND THEN WITH NO SEATBELT AREN’T THERE LAWS IN
ARKANSAS ABOUT THAT!!!
First of all I would like to tell everyone that this is a serious situation, and I feel that they are using this as a publicity rally. Maddye is my neice and she is having some serious issues right now. As of to date the Duggars have not been to see Maddye or even asked her mother on her progress. I am very thankful for them assisting to save Maddye’s life but Maddye’s complication were more than just a chicken nugget, if people are going to state things they need to state the facts. What everyone should be doing right now is praying for Maddye instead of using her for ideas of an upcoming show. I am appauled and to me this is not very christian like.
You are not very christian like.
I doubt you are her aunt. I am sorry to say you are an attention-seeking fony, but that is what you are.
Fishytome CPR is the best thing to do for an unresponsive person with a blocked airway. CPR does two things in this case, manual profusion of the blood and builds pressure to relieve the object.
“He is the hero here,” Maddye’s uncle, Philip Pepe, told the news station. “He deserves a lot of credit for what he did and I thank him from the bottom of my heart.”
Hmmm…Kristy M., sounds like other members of your family feel differently.
“Maddye’s appreciative family was able to met the Duggars in the hospital’s lobby on Tuesday night.”
Kristy, are you saying that this statement is not true? If so, you should contact the writer of this article to complain. I don’t think the Duggers wrote the article or are calling attention to themselves. They are on “reality TV” and due to that, whatever they do will be fodder for the media.
If Maddye truely is your neice, I would think you would be grateful for the assistance given instead of being critical. That is not very christian like.
Okay Mr. No it all. I am Maddye’s aunt and I know for a fact the Duggars have not been to Maddye’s room and to tell you the truth I don’t care if it is the media or the Duggars telling these untrue things if you read what I wrote apparently not you would see that Maddye has more complications than that stupid chicken nugget and she was wearing a seatbelt as she has neck burns from the seat belt. We are praying for her right now and her grandma is very distraught and don’t need ignorant people like some of them on here making comments when they don’t know what is going on in the first place. What I said was everyone needs to be praying versus commenting on here and my neice is not there to make anyone money, and who in their right mind would have pulled out a cell phone to video such a horrible moment when even the paramedics were stressed.
Kristy M – If you really are her aunt shouldnt you be praying for your neice instead of on the internet badgering others to do something you arent? You are being a hypocrite plain and simple. We all have family and would do anything for them, but like one of the other commenters said, if you feel this story is such an error you should contact the media outlet. Belittling others is in noones best interest. And honestly, dont you think the Duggars have enough going on in their own lives that maybe visiting your neice isnt something they can do right now? All of the older shildren are assisting with the younger ones so dont you think that maybe just maybe their hands are a little full right now?
Well, they probably have not been to her room. That is usually reserved for family members. Not 21 members of the family of the person who helped the child. But did they go to the hospital and speak with the family as stated in the article?
I do hope that Maddye and her family will all pull through without the drama that you apparently seek.
Kristy M – to be honest, the fact that you are on the internet chewing people out instead of being with your niece is appauling to me. I myself have 5 nieces and nephews, and if i was in your position, the internet would be the last thing on my mind. And, you have no right to judge a person and say that they are un-christian like. That in its self is un-christian like. i understand your going through a tough time, but don’t bite that hand that feeds you. in this case don’t bag on the Duggars for saving your niece’s life, if i was you i would thanking them profusly instead of getting upset at them. they cannot control what the media posts. if you don’t like what the media is saying, why don’t you do something about it? Get off the internet and go be with your niece!
Well Kristy M,
First off let me be the first to point out that news is news. So when news articles are posted people can and will give their opinion whether or not you personally asked for it or not. IF this is your niece, and she DOES have other issues other than the ’stupid chicken nugget’ then perhaps you should concern yourself with trying to make sure these other ‘issues’ are meet instead of posting comments online. Furthermore, a child of 6 needs to be in the backseat and seat belted in. IF these allegations that this site is making is false, perhaps you should take the suggestion of SUNI and bring attention to the authors attention. Lastly, WHO ARE YOU TO TELL ANYONE THAT THEY ARE UN-CHRISTIAN-like??? Last I checked judgment is a right reserved for GOD himself.
Shannon, I agree with you. Why would someone be so angry at someone who was trying to help?
um so is it just me or is it sick to pop out 20 fuckin kids???like wtf? dont we have problems with resources running out already like really.
vaginaisnotaclowncar – that it too funny! I love it.
I have to say that I cannot imagine having as many children as the Duggars; however, after watching the show a few times, I will come to their defense as far as the “resources running out” issue. This family recylcles. They also buy their clothes, shoes and other items from Goodwill and other re-use centers. They don’t waste electricty. They have vehicles that can carry many people at one time – yes, they use a lot of gas, but it’s better than having many cars carry a few people. They don’t have a TV in every room of their house like most these days (vagina, how many do you have?), each kid doesn’t have their own computer sucking up energy, they cook and eat at home most of the time and are not wasteful with food as most families who eat out several times a week at restaruants that throw away huge amounts of food every single day not to mention the waste created with their styrofoam take out plates and plastic utensils. Wow, I could really go on and on, on this issue. And not only that, the kids are not spoiled little brats who have nothing to offer the world except their hand out expecting something to be put in it. The Duggar kids have been taught from an early age that everyone has to participate in the family, everyone has a job to do, you must give to get, to help the community and to think of others.
With all of this stated, I’d rather have 19 of those types of kids than 2 who have been silver spoon fed and live off mommy and dada until they’re 30 years old having made “getting an education” their career and still don’t have a bit of common sense.
As long as they can support them and they are not asking for handouts on my tax dollar, I don’t care how many babies they have. They probably don’t use up as many “resourses” as your average family of four who each have a TV in their bedrooms, a gigantron TV in the family room, a wii for each person, a computer for each person, a car in the driveway for each person, cell phones for each, buy brand new clothes that are still hanging in the closet two years later with the tags still on them, have a pantry and a fridge full of food that will go bad because everyone has 10 different extra curricular activities to go do so they don’t have time to cook so they eat out at wasteful restaurants 5 nites a week, a fridge in the kitchen and in the garage and in the game room…Well, I could keep going but I’m just beating the dead horse at this point.
Just a question, but what the hell was a small child doing in the FRONT SEAT of a MOVING car? This childs mother needs to have a stern talking to and possibly a citation from the police. She put her own child in danger. What kind of parent does that? I have a child of my own and I NEVER let him sit in the front seat no matter what distance we are going. Her mother should be thanking her lucky stars that Maddye wasn’t killed by the airbag!!!
I just wanted to say that if you watch the video the Firefighters are doing CPR so to the person who said that that is the last thing they should have done was obviously wrong. Secondly to the fake aunt on here, the girls’ uncle is on the news thanking the family. Also who the hell cares if they have 19 kids!! Last time I checked they (as well as I) live in America and we are free to do as we please when it comes to having children!
