Sinbad May Lose Home in California

Hollywood stars do not like to pay their taxes apparently. Another star has been added to the IRS hit list for owing millions of dollars in back taxes. The comedian simply known as Sinbad reportedly owes more than 8 million dollars to Uncle Sam, and they are coming to collect.

His 1.5 million dollar home in Hidden Hills, California will most likely be foreclosed and sold at auction in an effort to pay some of the debt. Sinbad filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy the day after the government filed their lawsuit. He has not made tax payments on time since 1998.

There is still some confusion about who actually holds the title to the California home. The mortgage is held in Sinbad’s brothers name but the comedian’s company has been paying the bill. All this red tape could hold up the bankruptcy proceedings and give Sinbad’s lawyers time to work a repayment deal with the IRS, which was probably the plan from the very beginning.

The star first burst onto the scene back in the late 1980’s with small roles on several TV sitcoms. He has a couple of movies under his belt as well as numerous stand up comedian shows.
