TLC’s ‘American Chopper’ Comes To And End

“American Chopper” is being cancelled after six seasons. The reality show on TLC will air its season finale on Thursday, February 11th, which will also mark the finale of the series.

The series debuted on Discovery in 2003 and was later moved to TLC in 2008. The reality series followed Paul Teutul Sr., the founder of the custom motorcycle shop, Orange County Customs, and his son Paul Jr. The show documented the entire behind-the scenes drama of running a successful family business.

While Teutul Sr. had thought the show would last another few years, family dramas have cut the series short. Paul Jr. had previously left the family business earlier in the 6th season. He was then sued by his father last December over company stock. Teutul Sr. was also involved in disputes among the show’s other cast mates and was even named in a fraud case. There were also rumors that Orange County Customs and the Discovery Channel were unable to strike a deal for the seventh season.

Regarding the cancellation of the show, TLC issued a statement saying, “The Teutuls will always be a part of the Discovery family and we congratulate them on a tremendously successful series run.”

To summerise: Sr is an arrogant big mouth bully with more money than brains – Jr is a spoiled, but good bike builder, vinnie was the real star of the show, and Mike should have his own show as he’s funny. The family at best is disfunctional and their bikes started looking alike, so as a former watcher of the show, i’m glad the insanity has come to an end!The show quit working because the real brains of the business left(Vinnie & Cody)and all that was left were the glory hog Teutle’s!Too bad the boy’s lost focus.

  2. The Rickster says:

Does anyone know how Vinnie and Cody are doing?

The sad thing about the show is it used to be about building uniqe bikes, now they all look the same. They my be nice looking but they’ve lost that thing that made you say wow..how did they come up with that idea. Unfortunatly Sr. belives he is the one that put them on the map and I belive that he really enjoys being out front and doesn’t want to share the stage. You can see from the early shows that during the builds where was he, useally in the office with his feet up only coing out to yell WHY ISN”T IT DONE!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!! The other sad thing is while he was almost crying about his dog, that fact is that is his only famaily. He dosn’t get along with anyone else, all his kids don’t want anything to do with him. But he made his bed so he’ll have to lay in it, he”l find out that its not fun going old alone with out your kids and grand kids just money doesn’t do it.

It’s a shame the show’s been cancelled. I enjoyed MOST of it. However I hated the way they argued. Screeming, throwing things, DRAMA ! I really missed Vinney and Cody, I understand they now build bikes with-in their own buisness, and I hope they are a sucess. Rick was/is an excellant fabricator, he might want to hook-up w. Vinnie & Co. We all must admire Sr. starting his own buisness w. a $75.00 elec. welder in the bed of an old P/U truck. But his rapid rise to sucess must have gotten his head to swell. I wish them the very best in the future.

I worked side by side with my father for 20 years. I don’t know if their fights were real or for the camera.
    Nothing lasts forever.

Senior brought this all on himself. This show would still be going strong had he not turned into the tyrant that he has over the last 2-3 seasons. First he let a big talent like Vinnie go and then he wants to push his sons out of the business over some b*llsh*t reasons. This guy has some SERIOUS issues and, if he doesn’t get them resolved, he will die a broke, lonely old man with no one to come to his funeral. I mean, come on, you just don’t treat your family like he does. Get your life together and get some counselling or you’ve got a miserable, long row to hoe!!

  7. James says:

I knew American Chopper didn’t cater to high society, but could you please stop embarrassing the rest of the OCC fans and learn some basic grammar? Senior has no clue why people watched the show. It was the bikes and the designers (Junior and Vinnie). The show became tedious when the focus shifted to the disfunctional relationships instead of the product.

In the beginning it was told that the reason that the show come into being was Mikey ran into a discovery channel producer in a bar and told him about their business which led to the series.
Maybe sr.’s new kids can help him find a new series seeing that he’s thrown his old kids to the dogs.
Jr. comming in late is one of the perks of ownership of which Jr. had a 25% share of occ, and how many times did the old man take off or come in late that was never shown.
Cody was sr.’s favorite, but still managed to get screwed over by the pathetic, self serving, and arrogant old man sr. has become.
This wife better beware because family doesn’t seem to mean much to sr. just ask his ex who stood by him through the drug use years.

  9. Fritz says:

I agree with all the comments by everyone else. The show initially attracted me because I am a custom bike fan. Unfortunately, it morphed into a cheap reality show about a disfunctional family with motorcycles coming in a distant second. I couldn’t stand Sr. from the beginning. He is an illiterate blowhard who was riding the coattails of the talented Jr., Vinnie and Rick. I will not miss him or his show but I can’t wait to see what Vinnie and Cody do with their V-Force Customs.

  10. Jill Quintana says:

Paul Jr. and Mikey you will be missed. Mikey your the bomb. Stay true to yourself, there is not many like you around. Miss you guys!!!

  11. shauna says:

wow, i must be an idiot cuz i have been watching this series since day one and i do not find sr to be the problem. i truely believe that he started this business and therefore needed to run the business the same way any owner would and that does not include NOT following the rules and having no consequences for it. yes jr was an amazing builder but the show stopped focusing on the bikes and too much on their personal life and i feel as though sr is being beat up for it….somehow, i have not seen the KIDS hard done by, daddy has carried them and given them everything their hearts desire and still disrespect him….like i said, i must be the idiot here, i do not see what u r all seeing, i think sr will lose everything he has worked so hard for and then paul and mickey will see how bad things can get without daddys cash to back them up in life. good luck paul sr, u r going to need it.

  12. Scott says:

Leave it to a television netowrk to ruin another family. The money went straight to paul Sr’s head and he single handedly ruined his own brand. Junior is the one who made he company what it was, not Sr. If not for Jr, No one would have the money they have now.

  13. barney barnett says:

i feel sorry for t/sr i feel sorry for me. i have threegirls 2 sons hords of grand childern and great grand childern which i havent seen. iwas a smaller t/sr. shame on us.

  14. barbara &danny says:

we enjoyed the show.paul sr needs to fix things with his sons. i{barb} think the new wife started all this crap . it was fine untill she came in the picture. my husband said it went down hill after vinnie & cody left .i didnt like the fact that they vandleised everything all the time . we wish mikey and jr all the luck because we think they were the ones that got hurt out of all this.we will miss the show but it was time 4 the show to go.

  15. Tony says:

The old man canceled the show because Paul Jr, and Mickey, both of which are no longer part of OCC, were reaping the rewards of television with free advertising about there ventures, Paul Jr Designs, and Mickey with his paintings and whatever else he was going to do to make a living. The old man is a puke, and he cut his kids out of everything, including the show. He is a scumbag. Old reruns of American Chopper will continue to be aired because Paul Jr, Vinnie, Rick, Cody and Mickey are all on the shows. That was when the show was at it’s best and it was interesting. And the old man is making cash off the royalties of the reruns. Nobody was watching the latest shows, thats why TLC cut their losses and bailed out.
