“American Chopper” is being cancelled after six seasons. The reality show on TLC will air its season finale on Thursday, February 11th, which will also mark the finale of the series.
The series debuted on Discovery in 2003 and was later moved to TLC in 2008. The reality series followed Paul Teutul Sr., the founder of the custom motorcycle shop, Orange County Customs, and his son Paul Jr. The show documented the entire behind-the scenes drama of running a successful family business.
While Teutul Sr. had thought the show would last another few years, family dramas have cut the series short. Paul Jr. had previously left the family business earlier in the 6th season. He was then sued by his father last December over company stock. Teutul Sr. was also involved in disputes among the show’s other cast mates and was even named in a fraud case. There were also rumors that Orange County Customs and the Discovery Channel were unable to strike a deal for the seventh season.
Regarding the cancellation of the show, TLC issued a statement saying, “The Teutuls will always be a part of the Discovery family and we congratulate them on a tremendously successful series run.”

It’s really too bad Senior doesn’t see himself for who he really is. An overbearing loudmouth who belittles everyone around him, with the focus on Paul Jr. Senior has many issues, hope he works on some of them. The boys went through hell with their father. I’m glad Jr. left to find some sanity.
WHO CARES!!!!!! they made their millons and fame.who cares. there bikes aint all that great.
Have you ever worked for your family, you have nothing to say personially..Senior put everything he had on the line not jr., jr had it given to him, it stinks cause the Teutuls are a great family, great biz.
I AGREED WITH YOU I AM GLAD PAUL JR LEFT HIM IT SUCKS WN YOUR OWN FATHER IS A BUTT HOLE.MAYBE JR N MIKEY CAN GET A SHOW NOW……….
Don’t forget that you are really seeing him as TLC wants you to see him.
Absolutely agree about Paul Sr. Don’t know how much of it was for show, but regardless, he presented himself as a loud abusive jerk, constantly belittling his sons. He never gave Paul Jr. enough credit for success of the business.
Watched the show a lot, not sure why except I liked the building of bikes, especially by Jr. God bless and help SR. What a big loud mouth. The language on the show was a disgrace to TLC most words were not bleeped enough. Need to take a lesson from the Swamp Loggers…don’t need to act like a conceited Jack donkey like SR always did to be successful. He needs Psy. help for sure. Why dosen’t Jr and the rest start a show?
anyway sorry to see this happen sounds like the Crystal Cathreal to me. Dad and Jr struggles..
Working in a family business is hard enough, but having everything documented and having to watch it over again must be scary. You only see what the producers want you to see but it appears to me Sr. screwed everything up with his big ego.
Vinnie was the smart one he left quite a while ago. Thier behavior is not normal and should not be consdered so. I wouldnt accept either a boss or dad like that. Yet good luck all.
Paul Senior and OCC got glory from TLC / Discovery Channel, not from anything he did. And His family along with The Employees made OCC / Paul Sr. What he is or should I say was.
I watched this show all the time. It is sad to see what has happened to this family. I to believe Paul Sr. should be ashamed of himself. Paul Jr. has gone through hell. Who sues their own child. Jr. made that business the success it is. I wish him and Mikey the best Dee in Pa.
From their humble beginnings;they became arrogant and self righteous. It is time for this show to end. Old man paul was overbearing. There are a lot of other true custom builders more deserving of a show, that build bikes from the bottom up, frames, paint, motors.
These guys never did their own paint or motors. Did a lot of “box” building -good riddance
You would think that something that Sr. has gone through over the last ten years would have rattled his cage but apparently it is easier to abandon your family and marry into another one than to ever admit fault. I was waiting for this to happen for the show is a sad commentary on what it could be, or on what it was.
I liked the show, I liked the theme, Paul Sr. is over bearing. He also is a their father. Last time I checked that came first.
The next chapter is even more appealing, Father overcomes ego and boys are back.

I watched this from the beginning. Yes the show got to be a bit much with the constant Sr and Jr crap. The bickering was getting very old. You could tell the others guys were getting sick of it too. Remember that Vinny quit because of Jr. and his big head. You can hear it in his comments two or three shows before he pulls the plug. Jr is as much of an ass as his old man. Yes, the show got very monotone with the constant crap instead of building cycles. Now Jr is struggling with his designs to even get off the ground. Mikey is all over the place and next to no one talks to each other much. Glad it is over. Could’ve ended two seasons ago.
Agree with you Frank on Paul Sr. but I believe the show really started to decline when Vinnie and Cody left. The remaining cast just did not have any spark in the garage. Too bad about the show but something else will come along. Good luck Teutels.
Maybe the old mans back on drugs, otherwise how can you explain a father treating his kids the way sr. does.
I hope he looses everything he has, if this is the type of guy he is. The other workers at occ always acted like they were Mikey’s and Jrs. friends when all they are is a bunch of back stabbing loosers.
Sr. needs his butt kicked, if he was here I’d do it for him.
I agree with Frank and Carole, it is a real shame that Sr. disgarded the boys. I really loved this show and wish Jr and Mikey all the best.
I agree with both of you Frank and Carole. What I find interesting is that Vinnie seemed to be a very knowledged in what he did at OCC yet during motorcycle revealings he was never given the proper recognition, yet Senior was/has always been in the spotlight regardless of his contributions to the fabrications of the motorcycles. Now, Coty was liked by Senior like a son. It seems awkward that they both left and started their own company, way to go. Maybe Senior is all about the recognition/cameras that his family did not matter, who knows?
It is about time how many episode can we stand with SR. Pissed off at everyone and a inability to pronounce idea right. He takes all the credit for nothing. I had one of there bikes, nice to look at but POS to ride no suspension pullled to the left and one of a kind stuff that fell off on a regular basis. Harley Davidson needs a reality show there bikes run and run and they treat all like real family.
Don’t really care about the family feud, or all the little bickering going on. Just liked to see the bikes come together.
How soon we forget ,where’s Mikey? Perhaps he should take over from the old man and Jr. Hey they HAD a good show but like all good shows they have to go!
What a shame! This is was one of my favorite shows. Do have to admit the family drama was not as good as the actual bike building but I still loved the show. Someday I would love to have them build me a bike. Hopefully the network will still air re-runs. Sorry to see you go guys. Good luck!
The show was less about the bikes and more about the family and employee dynamics. Once show members decided to leave for greener or less stressful pastures, the fascination wore thin. Without all three Teutuls, and the associated cast of characters there was no show. Unfortunately, my thinking is that the company will follow the show into yesterday’s news.
Certainly fun while it lasted.
I loved watchin this show. But I agree with Carole, the show wasn’t the same without Vinnie and Cody. And on top of that they treated Jr like he was king and Mikey like he was crap. I quit watching it after Vinnie left. But i do wish the Teutels the best of luck!
Great series run. It was time to go as when they were hungry, they had more drive and passion for customs. It’s all about the people. Vinne, Jr., Cody or the whole family. With all the technology in their shop, they created “corporate bikes” and it was almost like an add. I watched them all and enjoyed. It will be hard to keep their huge overhead going without the support of this show. It is about bikes in the end.
Toooooooo bad for the show. The 7th season, if it happened, would have been a strain to watch, as if the last 2 were not? The magic of what drew us into the show disappeared. Creativity on camera, humor, and personalities all but vanished, and were taken over by disturbing family relationship issues, better suited for a different type of show. Best wishes to all of the Teutels and everyone else in the shop. Hope things work out for the Teutel trio. A special Hi to Vinnie and Nubs. You were missed.
I have not watched this show in years but I can predict the plot of any show. They need to a bike for customer X and they have plenty of time but they goof off and Paul Sr yells at them because they are not going to meet the deadline. They bust their butt and at the last minute the bike is completed and the client is happy. This is the basic plot for every show along with the manufactured drama and I’m surprised it is still on the air.
I think the downfall of this show was the arrogance of Paul sr. Sure HE built the “Company” as he always remindeed us but Paul Jr put it on the map! with his designs & Ideas that sr could never do. Also Sr always saying Jr was slow to build, One of the last eppisodes showed Sr, 2Hrs, 1 handle bar. You do the math. Good luck to All involved & 1 Last message to Paul Jr. Get back to building bikes!
Aloha
You Hit the Nail!
it was a interesting show. maybe Paul Sr should take a
vacation and let the boys do somthing for ahile
If you ask Me Paul Sr. should be on his knees thanking his son Paul Jr. for making that company what it is today because Jr. is the one that put out and better bikes and who puts money over family anyway how can anyone sue their kids over a few bucks how sick is that
glad to see senior is getting his dues. I agree his belittling of the workers and his sons shows what his true side. the show was great until it was all about senior.
money doesn’t equal happiness. my old man is just like him. material and attention is more important than family, friends, etc. i know how jr. feels. good for him for leaving, can’t believe the old man sued him. without his son most of those bikes would’ve looked like shit or any other bike. jesse james is a true bike builder. he didn’t look in catalogs for parts, he made them.
Jr was lazy but we can all see why all the kids hate their Father. Grandma needs to wack him in the jimmy for not coming to family events (engagements, Mike going comedy route, mike getting out of rehab, skipping Mike recital etc….)
Inever did catch why Jr. left? what was the initial problem w/ father/son? Last I saw they got along and then he was leaving??
What a great show this was in the 1st couple of seasons. The interplay between Paul Sr. and his two sons was a lot of fun to watch. Once the interaction within their relationships began to take a back seat, the show became more of a chore to watch.
Jr & Mikey were critical to the show’s entertainment value. The final blow was when regulars like Vinnie no longer appeared and that young designer doing the CAD drawings became a featured player on the show. It then got really boring, really quickly.
Who really cares about this show that never should have made it to television……
Three Stooges on rich people choppers. I’m sure there will be a movie and a cartoon. Oh sorry, they are a cartoon.
you know the show was great with the teutels !!!! when the other guys came along somthing change !!! when paul jr. left he took the soul of the show all the new people were;nt the show it was a mistake to think the show could carrie on ! everybody i mean everybody knew the show was DOOM !!even the bikes weren;t the same its to bad all the teutels !made the show not just one .not the other clowns and mickey i miss mickey.
One of the last shows I watched, Sr. stated that he’s estranged from all of his sons. Then of course made it all about them. All I could think when he said that was, “What’s the common denominator in those relationships?” It’s time Sr. took some responsibility for himself & swallowed some of that pride.
It was a good show but Senior definitely needs to take some anger management classes. You don’t sue your son…ever. Fire him? Maybe. Sue? Is money really that important? No way.
Part of the show’s decline was due to the lack of puplic interest in overpriced cutom bikes, the fad simply ran it’s course. They used to be cool when they were few, now they’re everywhere and most are for sale due to the state of the economy.
SORRY TO SEE THE SHOW GO. IT WAS A GREAT SHOW ON BUILDING CHOPPERS. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU. ROBERT.
Looks like Mikey will now have to go get a real job.
My wife and love the show..hate to see it end.
I agree with both of you. I am surprised the show lasted this long, it was the same every episode, “gotta make a deadline, Paul Jr. doesn’t show up, Sr. acts like a jerk”. I think it was disingenuous to try and make it look like Sr. was still with Jr.’s mother in the beginning, and it was outrageous to take time to show off all of their ostentatious trappings like Sr’s new crib. Get over yourself, Sr.
They are very stupid. They had a really succesful show and it seems money got the best of them. They are family. Family should should stick together through thick and thin.
Puts a whole new spin on dysfunctional families. Paul Sr. is the worlds worst father. Don’t ever bring any children around him. He’ll die alone with no pity from anyone.
All that disfunction made my head hurt. Maybe we will see Mikey as a judge on Idol.
I am very sorry to see you guys go. I have been watching you from the building of the Black Widow bike, way back there. (My favorite of all. I actually took a pic of it at Myrtle Beach and gave it to Paul, Jr. when you-all came to Ona, WV.) I have watched the changes in personalities and, “Yes” you are a family run business. Families have problems!! I wish you luck and reconcilation.
I will always treasure my meetings with you. And by the way, “Yes, Mikey, I STILL smell good.”
Someone ask me the other day, “What would you do if you won the Lottery?” I said, “I would have OCC build me a bike.” Love and Peace to you all!!!
Agreed. Vinnie’s exit marked the beginning of the end. Paul Sr. clearly has strong business acumen, and has guided the business (which he endlessly takes credit for founding) into a mini-empire, but he’s also lost his 3 sons [and any public credibility] in the process.
The fact that he, and employees like Rick, needlessly bashed Paul Jr. on-air had become just too much.
I suspect the demise of OCC will quickly follow the show’s cancellation. Without the added exposure of TV, no company will bother coming to them for work. Owning a post-TLC OCC bike just won’t be cool.
I wish the rest of the family the best of luck! It was a great ride while it lasted. Thanks guys!
Paul Sr, needs to get over himself and back away from the custom bike building. Paul Jr’s custom bikes were fantastic and that is what he should be doing. I don’t see his new business going anywhere. Mike?…who is Mike (someone who needs direction other than where he seems to be going)…it’s a mess.
The best to all of them, we enjoyed it for awhile.
Im really gonna miss Mikie. I also loved Paul jr.
I think Paul Jr is the real talent. Perhaps Sr is jealous of that. Instead he should be happy he has such a talented son & just enjoy it. His jealousy has completely unraveled his whole family. It’s too bad it had to come to that.
Oh i totally agree with what Frank and Carole said, the show totally went down hill after Vinny and Cody left. I think Sr did it himself. I can’t stand watching anymore, I used to love that show.
I am really going to miss you guys! No one made bikes the way you did..I lived up at West Point for a couple of years and never got a chance to go by the shop and just let you know what a wonderful job you did.. Good luck and keep doing what you do best
)
I’m not sad at all to see them go! its to bad that the REAL bike builders in orange cty NY never got a show and recognition that they should have!not some wannabees like the teutul’s did! like billy devlin and his brother shawn mccoy and all the guys from hog heaven in goshen ny ! its a real shame….budda ex pres of abate of orange cty ny…
if the people you are so good then why haven’t they had a show?? maybe it is because they are not as good as you say stop trying to get a free pop for a bunch of wannabe clowns………..
paul sr needs to work on his people skills especially when it comes to his sons ……….
vinny mikey and paul jr made the show for sure.
