“American Chopper” is being cancelled after six seasons. The reality show on TLC will air its season finale on Thursday, February 11th, which will also mark the finale of the series.
The series debuted on Discovery in 2003 and was later moved to TLC in 2008. The reality series followed Paul Teutul Sr., the founder of the custom motorcycle shop, Orange County Customs, and his son Paul Jr. The show documented the entire behind-the scenes drama of running a successful family business.
While Teutul Sr. had thought the show would last another few years, family dramas have cut the series short. Paul Jr. had previously left the family business earlier in the 6th season. He was then sued by his father last December over company stock. Teutul Sr. was also involved in disputes among the show’s other cast mates and was even named in a fraud case. There were also rumors that Orange County Customs and the Discovery Channel were unable to strike a deal for the seventh season.
Regarding the cancellation of the show, TLC issued a statement saying, “The Teutuls will always be a part of the Discovery family and we congratulate them on a tremendously successful series run.”

Paul Sr was an a– towards everyone. His son’s deserve all the credit. Without Paul Jr designing the bikes they were nothing. Good luck to Paul Jr. and his brother. It was really over when Vinnie and Cody left.
As someone who works in a family business with this brother and his father, there was a time I could really relate to this show. What amazes me is that with their successful formula, and mechandising, all they really had to do what build bikes, smile for the camera, and rake in the bucks. Who wouldnt like a job like that?
Had the pleasure of meeting the Teutels and found them to be much gentiler in life than the TV personas.
each took pride in the shops work and was willing to share the way it was done. I will miss the show it was a blend of metal working, mechanical, engines and art. tied up in that bad boy biker package…
how many outlaw bikers ride $80,000 dollar bikes?
bye Sr. sorry to see you go.
i knew sr. would ruin everything.when he let vinny walk out the door i knew he was a p*ick.jr was the future but he couldn’t handle that.i also didn’t like that vinny wasn’t on stage when they reavealed a bike.even though he was a major part of it.sr. is an old man riding his sons butt crack.i love him but he screwed up his own show. do you remember american hot rod.another geezer who didn’t know whats up
I would Like to see Paul Jr. And Mike have thier own reality show. I have one in mind it would be great for them. Yes I agree Paul Sr. is out of control.
It is really sad to see the end of American Choppers, but it was bound to happen considering how Paul Sr. treated Paul Jr. and especially Mikey, the most sensitive of the sons and a very special person in his own right, something that his father had trouble seeing and dealing with. It is Mikey I feel who will need the most support and I hope he continues on with his comedy, his piano, and his paintings. Paul Jr. seems to have come into his own with his design company and I hope we will get to see more of this on maybe his own show with Rachael of course, and also Mikey. I wish all of them good luck and happiness.
I think thaqt Jr., Micky, Vinny and Cody would have done a good job if Sr. would have left a long time ago.
SENIOR could not come to grips with the fact that he had to share the success with his sons and workers. He chose to belittle Jr. over his lack of being on time ,cleanliness, and attitude rather than the fact that he had a gift of bike design and charisma. In the end the final product is more important. The new crew was efficient and capable but lacked any star power. One guy actually looked like he was homeless (scruffy beard and mangy clothes). The young designer was computer savvy and talented but also was lacking in hands-on experience which was obvious when he would help out in the shop. Rick was long on experience and welding talent but was not much in front of camera. Vinnie was a perfect ying to Jr’s Yang, but I believe that Sr. wouldnt pay him properly. Sr. prefers to cry over his mangy dog rather than work on a relationship with his blood family. SR. thinks his kids should kiss his butt and never question his motives since they obviously owe him for everything under the sun. Well he found out eventually people become their own person and will move on. Good luck to all the Teutle’s. They sure had a helluva ride…
In all the years I watch the show I don’t remember Paul SR designing anything like the fire, spider web, Statue of liberty Bikes, the stuff he designed and built sucked with out JR the show would have never made it out of the cutting room floor. when JR left Rick was the only decent biker builder left on the show!
i think it is a good thing to see them go to watch how much stuff tyey destroid on that show and how there attitudes were to me they were spoiled and were bad roll models and as far as senior goes money is not everything he didnt build that buisness everybody around him did anybody can take a hammer and bang a bike together watching them build bikes i wouldnt buy one unless it came with a hammer because you would probably have to beat it apart to fix it i fill sorry for there mom.
Cripes Guy, lay off the reality shows and take a few english/spelling lessons. Believe me, in the long run you will be glad you did. The mind is a terrible thing to waste.
guy, you are right. Mom was a SWEETHEART on the show. Mikey, Jr., and Sr. are fortunate to have such a sweet mom/grandma that they can visit talk to celebrate life with.
I feel sorry for your Mom you should have stayed in school longer and learned how to spell.
I agree with you to frank,my father and I had a similer relationship so it was better to go our sepprate ways. pauljr. made that show ,sr. should change his ways before he is left all alone with dog like my dad
Shout Out to boyd cottington duice bag!
We drove out to OCC a few years ago while on a business trip, before they got huge. Happened to find the place just about lunchtime. Sr. had time for one photo with my husband and then just split, Jr. drove in and talked for a couple of minutes, but then left. As we were getting ready to drive off Vinnie and Mikey came out and talked to us for about 10 minutes. Real down to earth nice guys. They were headed out to lunch and invited us along!! We had a great time, laughed until we hurt and reinforced what everyone has been saying. It was always the guys in the background that made the show. Where ever Vinnie is, and Mikey goes, we wish them all of the luck in the world. Jr. needs to realize that he is not the end-all, be-all. Maybe trade school for him. Sr. will be alone with his ‘new wife and her sons’ and lose out on everything.
Sr. is a bully. He destroyed his family, putting $$$ first only jr’s love of Mikey kept him alive through the hell of Sr’s constant riding. Good luck to the boys, hell will be waiting on Sr. Lots of bully’s there
From the start…Sr was an AS****E!!! yeah, he let Cody go and still didnt give the kid the bike that he built…fraud!!!! letting Vinny go? another mistake!!! to Jr and Mike—congratualations from getting out from under Sr’s thumb…to all except Sr–good luck!!!
Paul and his wife were guests of mine at a reataurant I worked at in Florida. I must say, out of MANY famous people who visited, Paul SR was one of the nicest, gentle people I have ever had the pleasure to serve. Also, I had never seen a restaurant go as “crazy” as the patrons did when they saw him and his wife sitting there. a couple of young kids, and all the adults all were thrilled just to see him.
So a show is a show, but as the man in my restaurant, he was as nice and the most gracious celebrities I have ever met. There have been many.
I wish him the best in life, and was glad to have had the opportunity to have met him and his wife.
i completely agree with everybody who says paul sr. is an old man on a power trip. if it wasnt for people like paul jr. and vinnie that company wouldnt be nothing. paul sr said the company could make it with out jr, well look at the tv show. once jr leaves the company the show goes off the air. good luck in the future paul jr.
I didn’t know this show was still on.
See Ya… Haven’t watched since season 1. Silly People, Silly Bikes. Might as well go down and get a glue gun and some pretty doo dads and glue them to your bike to make it pretty. I never understood how someone could pay so much money for the bikes that the jokers were putting out. Assembled with a 5lb sledge hammer. And then Sr. opens a Super Shop, come on? Bankrupcy is next. These were and always will be posers. Like I’ve always said, Money can’t buy you class. Or a discerning eye. You are born with it.
All this time I thought that Paul Senior’s antic’s of be littling Paul JR. was just for the camera but I guess it was for real.
In my opinion Mikie really made the show and you could tell that Paul senior treated him special compared to the way he treated Paul JR.,. Milie was always screwing up ( like the time he drove Paul SR. car in the lake) but in Senior’s eyes Mike could not do any wrong. Well if nothing else my family and I always found it entertaining and wish them all the best.

hi people i think that the show was great when it first came out but towards the end it fell flat on its face the main guy’s have all left the show they have moved on i operat a small shoveling buessness and i treat my enploy’s better then sr. and i am only 15
it was a good show. too bad the egos of jr.and senior couldn’t coexist over the long term. the show did head south without vinnie, he was the work ethic that complimented juniors talent.
It is a shame… I love watching that show. It was my Favorite. I will trully miss that show. Thank you for the great seaons.
When you have disfunctional relationships like these are, usually both parties are to blame. I can see senior’s problem with junior acting like a spoilled brat. And junior thinking his dad doesn’t give him enough credit. Ego’s are to blame here, along with a history to not respect eachother’s point of view. When Vinnie left you knew something was wrong in the background. Just too much drama. They tried to have a man’s business and ended up acting like some sick *itches.
I don’t get it. What’s all the sniffeling about? It was just another sham reality show. Sure, they got lucky and knocked out a few nice bikes but nothing that hundreds of other shops can’t do just as well or better. The conflicts was the only attraction the show had going for it.
I have to agree with Guy about their destructive ways. I always felt that their tendencies showed their true (redneck) nature. I found the violence of their arguments to be disturbing. I understood Paul Sr.’s beef with Jr.’s lackadasical(sp?) work ethic, but he never really seemed to appreciate Jr.’s talent. As for Mikey? At first I thought “What a slacker!”, but I think the poor boy’s got some real problems, and in some ways is very likeable. I hope that they can all work things out, but it’ll probably be years in the process. Also, I’m not a big raked out, low-slung, chopper fan…I’m more of a bobber person, ala Sr.’s style bikes.
The power of money wins again. Its true Sr. was a prick but thats what tv wants.Someone has to be a prick to get people to watch. Its really about greed……………
I know money and fame are hard to live with in real life. I hope someday the Teutel’s can come see them selfs as a close family again, when the smoke clears. Enjoy the show everything comes to a end. God Bless you family, Thanks.
My dad’s name happened to be Paul and so is mine. I’m sure glad my dad wasn’t an egotisical asshole.
If they did the show as we ultimately wished it had evolved to…they would not have had a second season show. Could you imagine Sr. acting like a human being to his sons? The bikes weren’t THAT good! I’d be happy to take the millions made and fade away!
Paul Senior needs to read their first book again. I think he has lost track. Those 2 goons he has running his business drove a wedge between him and his kids from the get go. And for the rest of those asshats (rick excluded) they need to stop making fun of Jr. and kiss his hairy beanbag for their jobs. he made that company what it is.
I also lost interest when Vinny left. Vinny,Paul Jr., and Mikey were fun to watch. The chemistry was there. Paul Sr. only needed small parts on the show to make his point with everyone, speak his peaqce and then go away. To much of him was ruining the show. I would love to see Paul Jr. and Vinny get back together with Mikey showing up somewhere in the show long enough to get us all laughing.Good Luck Paul, Vinny, Mikey
get lost senior you ruined the show and disgraced the family. when vinnie left you knew the show was going down hill. hope he goes out of business too for the way he treats his family. he turned into a joke!!
I liked the show in the beginning when the focus was more on how the bikes were designed and built. Now the bike building has taken enough of a backseat that it is barely 5 minutes of the show. It called American CHOPPER but we see large segments dedicated to Mikey the clown. It drifted far from anything to do with choppers.
You people are nuts! What would Jr. and Mikey have if were not for riding their fathers coat tail. Sr. has the right to chasen Jr. for being late, or taking a long lunch, and not doing what the BOSS tells him. How many of you would have an employee act like Jr. and not do anything? Sr. has built two multi-million dollar buisness’ and his children think they are intitled. If Jr. wants to reap the benifits he should pay the price!! What happened to honor thy father and Mother?
I can’t believe people actually liked this show.LOLOL
I saw it a few times at friends places as I don’t have cable. Like a few have already said. There are many other talented builders, painters, etc than these guys. Its all hollywood reality crap. I don’t know them, but looking at some of the ugly unfunctional high priced junk they built for companies
doesn’t surprise me. You know just for once, why can’t they have something true to life for a change. The whole auto, bike building business is very hard. People come and go, and good ones go out of business. I am sure with the economy the last few years many shows will be taken off the air and many good shops will shut the doors. Its ok, they still got overpriced T-shirts in walmart. I know OCC can actually build decent stuff, but not much on the show.
Just like the housing market, over priced, over sized, and over rated. I would rather see a show about
a real person with everyday issues than a bunch of blowhards. Fantasy tv.
i will have another drink thank you.
TLC destroys yet another family LOL!!!! Way to GO!
The day i watched them take a fairly new vehicle and wreck there old office, and push a nice looking leather couch threw a plate glass window just because they had so much money was the last day i watched the show.
I mean really. How long can a show go on building the same bike over and over again with different Handle bars. It was all about the guys. When the originals left, the show was a shadow of itself.
Sr. is a character but he no longer had anyone to rif on. We can all be victims of our own success.
I think Paul Jr, Vinny, Coty, Rick, Mikey, and a few others should build bikes. WTF is he doing designing a Coleman grill??? You are one of the worlds best Motorcycle Builders! Hello!!! Paul Sr is a screwball who is stuck on himself and thinks he is why they are famous….his money may have started it but it’s the folks who know what they’re doing who I enjoy. I hate waiting to hear Paul Sr screw up the english language! You were an Alcoholic and a Druggie! Give your damn kids a break! You put them through hell as kids and NOW you want to do the same thing as adults? YOU made them the way they are, now embrace it and just get along! Stop being a D_ _ K!
The show started to decline, when Sr. let Vinni go.
Then he got rid of Paul Jr. & Mikey. What does that tell you about a guy that does’nt talk to any of his kids? Also, the designer kid is an idiot, & the other 2 guys seem to relish in the fact that Paul Jr. & Mikey aren’t around, and now they get to travel with the big bafoon. I’m glad he lost the show, but Like the other poster said, it would be cool to see mikey and Paul Jr. get their own show.
First, Paul Sr. destroyed his family and marriage with drugs. He came back from that and got into a business that eventually blossomed into something big with son Paul Jr. paving the way. He had a chance to reconnect with his sons. Jr was the genious in bike designs that kept the company moving forward. Paul sr was a bully and constantly humiliated Paul jr and hounded him for being late and taking his time in doing some things. You should always cut your best performer some slack. Jr was the goose that laid the golden eggs but Sr, killed the goose. The show went flat and stale with Jr and Paulie gone. Even the oldest son who owns a metal construction company has very little to do with Sr. I think Sr. was on steroids and that caused his caustic behavior. Old man, you shot your self in the foot. Maybe the network should consider a new show with Jr., Paulie and Vinnie building bikes.
Just how many times could they build the same bike and then a suit would jump out and call it genius! Glad to see the old wind bag bite the dust. Vinnie Rules, he was the real go to guy!
Yeah Paul SR has his issues and so does Jr. and pretty much all the rest of us have some issue or another. Hey , they had a tv show together , built a buisiness together. Not bad , so they have problems , well every family does , they just dont have hunderds of thousands of people witnessing the whole thing everyweek. I say good luck to them all , I really hope they work out their problems together.Great show.
I used to love watching American Chopper. OCC makes some cool bikes, but if it weren’t for the Discovery Channel and TLC they wouldn’t be half as successful as they are now, and most people wouldn’t even know about Orange County Choppers. They’d still be a small bike fabricating shop. It’s too bad Jr. left early though, but I’m surprised he put up with Sr’s constant verbal attacks for as long as he did, but their fights are also what kept people interested in the show. I myself was always wondering when Sr. was going to blow at Jr. or Mikey. Oh well, at least the fans will still be able to buy the series on DVD, and I’m sure TLC will show reruns every now and then.
I really hate to say it but the workmanship on the bikes that were built on the show really started to take more of a ridiculous look. I am also of the frame of mind that the rapid progression of the show led to the decline of quality craftsmanship pertaining to the cycles built. The antics of Mickey and destruction of property on the show really started to wear thin on me. I preferred Biker Build off much more than American Chopper and still ponder to date why they discontinued Biker Build Off.
i TOTALLY agree with Carole’s statement about the show declining when Vinnie and Cody left. Thats when i stopped watching the show. Jr & Sr’s fighting was very funny at times but SR def takes it too far. I’m suprised JR stayed around as long as he did
first off “GUY” needs to check out a distionary and learn how to spell before talking about how they are bad role models! so what they broke stuff and had laughs while doing it. I would have done the same thats part of what made the show what it was! Bad role models….yeah the little big shop from Orange County NY that rose to national stardom while building a good business and making a GREAT living! Man you’re right thats the LAST road i want my kids following! UGH some ppl!
