Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie to Sue Tabloid

Actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are reportedly suing a tabloid over a fictionalized story that the couple is breaking up.

The pair, widely known as “Brangelina”, are suing the News of the World, a UK tabloid that was the first to report the untrue story that they were about to split up. Since the original story broke, many more magazines have followed the tabloid’s lead and perpetuated the story all over the world.

Celebrity entertainment television shows have also picked up on the rumor and reported the couple’s impending separation.

The original story from the News of the World reported that the couple, who never legally married but have 6 children together, consulted divorce lawyers and signed a $205 million deal negotiating the split, including the division of several homes and businesses the couple owns jointly. Pitt and Jolie’s British Lawyer, Keith Schillings, alleges the tabloid refuses to retract the story.

The lawyer also states the story was a false and intrusive allegation. The couple has filed a complaint at London’s High Court on Monday.

To combat the breakup rumors, Pitt and Jolie made a public appearance together at last Sunday’s Super Bowl, where they were seen embracing and kissing.
