Bontia Griffin, long time radio and television host who was known as ‘Bo’ to her many fans has died today at the age of 51. Griffin succumbed to intestinal cancer that came on quickly. Griffin got her start on South Florida FM radio, and quickly became one of the region’s top hosts and DJs in the late 80’s and early 90’s.
Born in South Carolina, Griffin had sought her roots in the last few years, owning a hair salon for the last half decade. Recently she had sold the salon and was planning on moving back to Florida until the cancer claimed her life instead.
Griffin’s television career took off when she began hosting the Game Show Network’s news desk at GSN live as well as appearing on the morning talk show ‘Good Day Live’. Griffin also hosted ‘Blue Ribbon’ which was a travel series airing on the Turner South network and was a presenter on the popular home makeover program ‘Big Reveal’ for the HGTV network.
Griffin was most beloved in the South Florida area and was embraced as a native daughter despite her South Carolina lineage.
