“American Idol” Seminfinalist Disqualified

American Idol released the names of its remaining top 24 ninth-season semifinalists on Wednesday night’s broadcast. The first 7 were named the night before during the show. The original seven included: Didi Benami, Lee Dewyze, Katelyn Epperly, Todrick Hall, Aaron Kelly, Micheal Lynche, and Casey James.

Last night Idol added: Crystal Bowersox, Lacey Brown, Michelle Delamor, Tyler Grady, Andrew Garcia, Alex Lambert, Siobhan Magnus, Paige Miles, Joe Munoz, John Park, Janell Wheeler, Lilly Scott, Jermaine Sellers, Tim Urban, Katie Stevens, Haeley Vaughn and Ashely Rodriguez.

Tim Urban was not on stage with Ryan Seacrest as he was a replacement for the disqualified Chris Golightly. Golightly was eliminated from the competition after judges determined he was not eligible to compete.

The competition will start with three weeks of performances in which the American public will vote by phone to determine the top 12 finalists. The female performers’ first performance is on Tuesday, February 23rd, while the males are slated to sing on Wednesday, February 24th. The elimination show will take place on Thursday, February 25th. At this time, two male and two female semifinalists will be eliminated. Shows will air in the same format three times per week until March 11th when the top 12 finalists are revealed.
