Justin Timberlake, pop musician, and an avid fan of the Rolling Stones, has created a line of clothing that imitates the rock star fashion culture. Mesmerized by the jackets of Mick Jagger, he has put out a line exemplifying Jagger’s style under the Rath collection that seems to have gotten notice from the fashion industry since his presentation at New York Fashion Week. He calls this “the discoverer look,” but from there it takes on a stream of consciousness of other notions like “nomadic” and “bohemian”. This opens up a wide range of possibilities to where the fashion consciousness of the line may evolve from the sophisticated rock star base. The design is supposed to be versatile enough for street wear, so it will be interesting to see whether the look catches on in the coming months.
His idea, founded on the principle that people want to dress like rock stars, is not terribly original, but it helps to get implementation when one is given the preferential treatment shown to Timberlake at the New York Fashion Show where he was reserved the bulk of the space provided for all the entrants. Time will tell whether Timberlake’s line has predicted success.
