Bristol Palin, the 19-year-old daughter of former Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, is getting ready for her latest gig: actress.
Palin, a single teen mom, has been slated to guest star on an episode of ABC Family’s “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”, the Disney cable network announced on Tuesday. For Bristol Palin’s acting debut she will be playing herself and will be pretending to befriend one of the main characters, Amy played by Shailene Woodley, at a music program for teen mothers.
The show’s executive producer Brenda Hampton coined Palin ‘the most famous teenage mother in America’. Hampton feels that Palin will bring additional attention to the issues facing teen parents.
“The Secret Life of the American Teenager” is a show which deals with teenage issues including teenage pregnancy. The show debuted to record ratings in June 2008. It continues to draw in the biggest audience in the history of the network. It airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST and stars Molly Ringwald, Mark Derwin, India Eisley, and Ken Baumann to name a few.
Many wonder how mother, Sarah Palin, will feel about this given her many statements blasting Hollywood in the past.
Stay tuned. The episode, which will be shot in Los Angeles, will air this summer.
