Thousands Of Brides Scammed By Website

A web site advertising a bridal show turned out to be a scam, with thousands of brides-to-be paying in advance to attend the fake show. The web site www.boston411.com promoted a bridal show that was to be held this weekend at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

In addition to engaged couples registering online for the event, the web site encouraged vendors to buy floor space to promote their businesses at the event.

Registration fees for both the couples and the vendors were purchased through Pay Pal, a popular online money transfer site.

Over 6,000 people bought $10 to $15 tickets for the “Boston 411 Home and Bridal Show 2010″, and 100 to 200 vendors bought floor space for anywhere from $350 to $4,000. Many people were lured in by the scam because the web site promised the proceeds were to go to the earthquake victims in Haiti.

The Wayside Inn in Sudbury, Massachusetts wanted to help some of the fraud victims. The first 250 individuals who have proof they purchased tickets for the fake show can pre-register for free admission to their own bridal show. The Wayside Inn Bridal and Fashion Show will take place on March 21.
