Katy Perry Gets Role In Smurfs Movie


It has recently been announced that pop singer Katy Perry has been awared one of the starring roles in the new ‘Smurfs’ move. Perry, known worldwide for her #1 hit ‘I Kissed A Girl’, has been awarded the role of Smurfette in the movie that depicts the popular NBC cartoon from the 1980′s.

The new Smurfs movie will be animated and it will be Perry who will be the voice behind Smurfette. Others that are set to star in the movie include Alan Cumming, Johnathon Winters, and George Lopez. Winters will play Papa Smurf, Cumming will be play Gutsy Smurf, and Lopez will play Grouchy Smurf.

The Smurfs was the ultra popular cartoon from the 1980′s that depicted the little blue munchkin like characters that lived in Smurfland. Perry has said to be very estatic about being able to land the part in the movie that is still in the development stages. She auditioned for the part months ago but just recently was told of being awarded the rold.

All of this comes on the wings of a huge worldwide adoartion for everything Katy Perry. She has been featured in numerous magazines and in late 2009 had an Unplugged special on MTV. It has not been said what the exact release date for the Smurfs movie will be.
