“And a version of, ‘Listen he’s a nice person, he’s very articulate,’ this is what’s been used against him, but he couldn’t sell watermelons if it, you gave him the state troopers to flag down the traffic.”
These are the words legendary newsman Dan Rather used during a discussion with Chris Matthews. Once again Dan Rather is in a bit of controversy, which Chris Matthews seems to attract. Prior to this, Mr. Rather had a problem, that caused him being pushed out at CBS during the Bush Administration.
Dan Rather was describing how Republicans would characterize President Obama as part of their strategy when campaigning against him in the upcoming elections in the fall. Mr. Rather is known for his folksy anecdotes, but this one might get him into “hot water.”
This is yet another incident mixing race and politics. Pictures of President Obama in whiteface are in vogue at Tea Party rallies and Glenn Beck stated on his show that President Obama does not like white people.
There are two ways to take this. Either Dan Rather is a racist. No proof from past statements or actions lead to this conclusion. Or it is another slip of the tongue that society takes too seriously.

How long do we have to keep enduring this s***!!! Dan Rather has been around long enough to know what words he should be using together. He’s in the business of reporting news not making news. Stay in your lane Dan or better yet do us all a favor and go back to Texas.
