Canadian-Born Actor Corey Haim Dead

Canadian-born actor and former teen heartthrob Corey Haim is dead.

According to the LAPD’s North Hollywood Division, Haim died at 3:30 a.m on Wednesday of an apparent accidental overdose. The coroner’s office said an autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.

Haim was found unresponsive inside his Oakwood apartment. His mother was with him at the time. He was rushed to the Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank where he was pronounced dead.

The actor had been struggling a long-time drug addiction, which was often the subject of The Two Coreys, his recent A&E pseudo reality series with regular co-star Corey Feldman.

Born in Toronto, Corey Haim shot to fame in the mid-1980s in films such as Lucas, License To Drive, The Lost Boys and Dream A Little Dream – the last three of which also featured Feldman.

However, Haim’s drug problems led his career into a downward spiral when the ’90s hit, which found him starring in mostly straight-to-video films.

Corey Haim was 38.
