A man who on numerous occasions tried to get by bodyguards assigned to Ryan Seacrest is now behind bars in California and will undergo a psychiatric evaluation by authorities.
Chidi Uzomah Jr. last year was convicted on one count of felony assault when he attacked one of Seacrest’s bodyguards in Orange County. Then late last year, Uzomah was arrested at E! Entertainment Headquarters in Los Angeles with a knife.
Uzomah yesterday pleaded no contest to felony stalking charges and after his evaluation results are determined he will be back in Los Angeles Superior Court for sentencing. American Idol host Seacrest told investigators he was “very intimidated by Mr. Uzomah’s presence, by his size”, as Uzomah is 6’4″ and weighs over 200 pounds and Seacrest is about 5’8″.
Seacrest has been fearful of Uzomah for the better part of a year. Besides the altercations in Orange County and at E!, Uzomah had once gone to the KIIS-FM studio in Burbank to look for Seacrest. Seacrest has also now been granted a restraining order that would require Uzomah to stay 100 yards away from Seacrest and Children’s Hospital of Orange County and not to own, use or possess any dangerous or deadly weapons.
