In a night of some controversey over the selection of the final 12, American Idol has once again realized that the best singers are not always the ones voted to stay on the show. The concern was over sending home Lilly Scott who has been consistent in her songs and the remarks from the judges.

Scott was joined by the other female eliminated, Katelyn Epperly. Some people questioned the axing of Alex Lambert. The nervous, young man was clearly distraught at his loss. He was joined by the other male contestant Todrick Hall. Although Hall has not been consistent his presentation this week blew a lot of people’s mind.

So, now, with the final 12 selected we will just lose one contestant a week instead of losing the four we have seen during the last few weeks. Those lucky twelve include Aaron Kelly, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Crystal Bowersox, Didi Benami, Katie Stevens, Lacey Brown, Lee Dewyze, Michael Lunch, Paige Miles, Siobhan Magnus, and Tim Urban.

American Idol has launched the singing careers of a number of singers. One of the most successful might be Kelly Clarkson who has had one hit after another and who maintains stable on the charts through the years. Others, such as Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson are following in her shoes. Of course, there are those less famous who have not gone too far, including William Hung, who never made it beyond the first audition.
