Diana Ross Set For New U.S. Tour, Canadian Stop Added

One of the singing divas of all time has announced she will be doing a U.S. summer tour.

The legendary singer, Diana Ross will be presenting concerts in 17 U.S. cities. She has named the tour, “More Today Than Yesterday.”

The tour opens in Boston, May 15. It will conclude in Saratoga, California on June 12. Although some are surprised she has announced another tour, it has not been that long since she was on the circuit.

Ross has scheduled a performance in Toronto on May 31, at Roy Thomson Hall.

Her last American tour was in 2007 and it was a success.

Ross, at the age of 65, is still one of the most popular singers to ever hit the Billboard.

The diva, known mostly for her singing, has also done some acting. She was nominated for an Academy Award, in 1972, as Best Actress for her role as Billie Holiday in “Lady Sings the Blues.”

She received a Golden Glove award for the performance. In 1977 she was awarded a Tony Award for her one-woman show, “An Evening with Diana Ross.”

During the 60′s she was leader of the popular Supremes who had such hits as “Stop, In The Name of Love,” “Baby Love,” and a number of others tunes that hit Number 1.

Ross has sold more than 100 million records during her career.

And for mid to late summer, I believe Whitney Houston (this tour will be more anticipated since it will be her first since 1999) will also be touring the US, after a fan site posted some Twitter messages. But I feel Miss Ross will be cheaper and be more predictible in terms of quality; Miss Houston however has been very inconsistant with her tour so far.
