Pulmonary Congestion Possible Cause of Death for Corey Haim

After a long history of fighting addiction, it was automatically assumed that actor Corey Haim died of a drug overdose. First reports stated it was prescription medications while others believed he was hitting the illegal drugs again. The actor, a famous 80’s child star, had been to drug rehab over 15 times in his short life.

But no one was taking the report his mother gave the ambulance drivers seriously. When the ambulance was called, Haims mother reported that Corey had been feeling really ill for days. She stated that he was lightheaded and passed out. Reporters failed to acknowledge these symptoms and basically thought she was trying to protect her son.

The coroner’s office may have proved her right. Initial autopsy findings have reported that Haim had an enlarged heart and water on his lungs. This is classic of pulmonary congestion and can be lethal. While the coroner’s office has not ruled this as the absolute cause of death, toxicology reports are pending, it is a very possible cause.

Haim was most notably recognized for his part in the 80’s hit movie “The Lost Boys”. Referred to as “one of the Corey’s”, Haim was best friends with actor Corey Feldman.
