Kate Snow Leaving ABC’s GMA

Kate Snow, news correspondent for ABC’s weekend edition of Good Morning America, will be leaving her post. She has taken a job with NBC as a correspondent for their popular Dateline news program. She made the decision to depart ABC after she wasn’t offered the position Diane Sawyer left on the weekday edition of Good Morning America. ABC chose JuJu Change to fill Diane Sawyer’s shoes instead of Kate.

Kate has been a familiar face on the news for quite a while now. She got her big break on CNN, where she covered the 2004 and 2008 presidential elections. She was also one of ABC’s reporters on the scene after the devastating Haiti earthquake earlier in the year.

After leaving CNN, Kate Snow had high hopes of moving up the ladder on ABC. However, it looks as though her career will get off to a good start on NBC instead. Kate is expected to begin her job at NBC later in the spring. NBC says they are very excited that Snow has accepted the position, and that they feel hiring Snow is a big step toward investing in the future of their company and expanding their prime time news network.

I am a fan of GMA and I haven’t been too impressed with the changes since Diane Sawyer left. Kate would have been better suited for the spot that was given to JuJu. Just my opinion but this is a positive move for NBC but not good for ABC.. good luck to Kate… will be watching your career continue to grow.

I am also a BIG fan of GMA and watch every morning but since Diane Sawyer left, I just don’t enjoy the show much anymore. Kate would have been a GREAT addition to the weekday GMA position instead of George who doesn’t know how to sit in a chair without leaning and who has an attitude that he is “the best.” Wrong move ABC…give advancement to those who would benefit your show.

George has ruined Good morning America with his know-it-all attitude and thinly veiled right leaning Republican reporting. Everyone should jump ship now and go to a more objective morning show. Good luck Kate.

I think that you have to give the new people on GMA a chance…so far I have liked what I have seen all are competent…and very Professional…I used to watch NBC but have switched since they new hosts are there….I was not a big fan Diane Sawyer…and like the show better now.

I thought George S. took Diane Sawyer’s place and JuJu took Chris Cuomo’s place….but your article said JuJu took Diane’s place…….will miss Kate on the weekends.

ABC chose JuJu Change to fill Diane Sawyer’s shoes instead of Kate…………..wasn’t it George who filled Diane’s shoes?????

NBC seems to have raided the ABC talent, ironically making ABC stronger and uncovering otherwise hidden talent. While moving Diane Sawyer to Charlie Gibson’s evening news may be good for Sawyer, but it diminishes the stature of the broadcast and highlights Sawyer’s lack of substance as a serious reporter. Losing Chris Cuomo to NBC is a blow but it gives Juju Chang the break she deserves; she is bright, glib, and attractive. She and George Stefanopolous add measurable improvement to GMA, and Juju slides nicely into Kate Snow’s position on the weekend GMA. Overall, ABC is the winner and with the exception of Cuomo, NBC opted for the second-rate talent.

I think both George S and Diane S were better in their previous roles although I find George S has a much more natural and comfortable way of interviewing people – much more real. I always felt Diane was thinking “OK – this is the way I should look…to show I am perplexed or satisfied or frustrated” rather than just looking that way as a reflection of feeling that way. I will also miss Chris Cuomo. I realize Charlie Gibson’s place need to be filled and I realize they do that with musical chairs but the current arrangement is lacking.

  8. Shirley says:

Was not happy to hear that Kate Snow is leaving GMA.
Will miss her! I really expected Kate to be chosen for the daily morning slot. Your loss, ABC!
    Good luck to you, Kate!

George is doing a great job on GMA. I really don’t don’t think he pushes republicans too much. If anything ABC leans to the Democrats. As for Kate, I think she should have been given Chris Cuomo’s position instead of JuJu. Nothing against JuJu, but Kate is better and paid her dues on the weekend show.
    Too late now though.

Every since Charlie Gibson announced his retirement from World News and ABC’s decision to replace him with Diane Sawyer the format and content of both World News and Good Morning America has changed. Men watch the news and morning shows too, but World News has more of a female perspective to it,(which is okay, I would accept)and the hosts of GMA weekday and weekends seems to have lost thier chemistry and are not sure exactly what and how they want to report the news and stories that pertain to the American viewing public. Get it together ABC. I watch your news programs more than any other network. Don’t loose me.
