‘Titanic’ star Kate Winslet and director Sam Mendes have gone their separate ways. The couple have one child together after their seven year marriage. Their lawyers state that the split is amicable and is by mutual agreement.
Although the announcement was just made the couple said they separated earlier this year. Winslet, ending her second marriage, was previously married to another director, Jim Threapleton. Winslet has a daughter, Mia, from the first marriage.
Last Year Winslet won an Oscar for best actress in the movie, ‘The Reader.’ Her stardom began in 1997 with her role in ‘Titanic.’ She was also nominated for an Oscar for that role. She has been nominated for Oscars in ‘Sense and Sensibility,’ ‘Iris,’ Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,’ and ‘Little Children.’ Mendes has also claimed fame in his role as director by receiving an Oscar for directing ‘American Beauty.’ He has become an acclaimed director in film and stage. His most recent directing has been in ‘Road to Perdition,’ and ‘Revolutionary Road.’
In her acceptance speech, Winslet, 34, told the audience and her husband, 44, “But I can honestly say with my hand on my heart that I loved every second of working with you and it’s made me love you more.”
