Former teen star Corey Haim was laid to rest today after a small private funeral in Toronto, Canada. Haim and his mother are originally from the city and his mother wanted his final resting place to be at his home.

The 38 year old actor was pronounced dead on March 10th after appearing to have suffered from a self-induced prescription drug overdose. His mother Judy Haim, talked with a reporter to clear her son’s name and states the coroner told her the death was due to an enlarged heart.

Haim’s mother originally claimed the city of Toronto would be footing the bill for the memorial, but they say otherwise. It is customary for the city to help those who need financial assistance after an application has been filed. They have not received any such form from Haim’s mother.

The service was attended by 200 friends and family members of the late actor. Notably missing was Haim’s friend and co-star Corey Feldman. Feldman released a statement that he would not be attending the service as a way to respect the family’s privacy. Feldman pleaded with the media to avoid the funeral as well. He is planning a public memorial service that will be held in Los Angeles in the near future.
