Michael Jackson Estate Strikes Jackpot Deal

Michael Jackson’s estate has signed a deal that will secure the future for his young children as well as his parents who all rely on the deceased singer’s income. Sony records signed a deal with Jackson’s estate worth 250 million dollars.

The negotiator for the dead King of Pop, says Sony was given the rights to music Jackson had recorded a short time before his death. The recording also includes several collaborations he did with other artists. The lawyer responsible for the deal, John Branca has worked with Jackson for over 30 years.

Branca was the driving force behind the recent dvd release of “This Is It” which earned the estate more than 60 million dollars. When the singer died last June, he was reportedly in financial dire straits. The quick thinking of his lawyer has turned his empire around. Some may see it as capitalizing on the star’s untimely death but the ultimate goal is to leave his children with their father’s legacy in the form of dollars and cents.

Jackson died suddenly after an apparent drug overdose at the age of 50 last year. The doctor responsible for giving him the final deadly injection has been charged with manslaughter.

I’m happy that Michael Jackson lives on in his music and films. “This Is It” was good and I really want to see “Gone Too Soon”. The documentary will look at the final days of Michael’s life.
