President Obama was interviewed on the Fox network on Wednesday. The interview got tense at a point, with the interviewer Brett Baier interrupting the President on multiple occasions. President Obama defended his plan for the House to indirectly vote for the Senate bill by means of a process called “deem and pass.” The President believed that any means of passing the Health Care bill was fine with him, as long as it passed the House. The President emphasized that the procedure is not important, only that Americans be covered by the bill.
This was a rare interview granted to Fox, believed by many to be an arm of the Republican party. Brett Baier apologized at the conclusion of the interview for the many interruptions when the President was speaking. President Obama told Mr. Baier that the controversial plan for payment of Nebraska’s Medicaid was dropped, but that the so-called “Louisiana Purchase” can be applied to all states and is still part of the bill.
President Obama should be given credit for granting an interview to a network that is against all his policies. It was interesting and Brett Baier asked questions that the public wanted the President to address. It was a breath of fresh air, compared to granting interviews to people who already are on your side.

As an American citizen I honestly believe that Mr. Obama has taken on the role of a dictator by telling (not asking) the American people what they want for their families. This is a huge change for millions of Americans and if we are to make changes in our lives, I believe our voices should be heard. The abortion issue is going to put thousands of unborn children to their deaths. GOD is the only one to say if a human should live or die at time of birth. To Mr. Obama it is nothing more than a money issue, to myself and millions of good Americans it is a moral issue.
I pray that our countrymen who have a conscious will not pass this unwanted bill. God have mercy on your souls if this is passed as it is now written.
PLEASE HEAR OUR PLEAS AND STOP THIS UNWANTED BILL !!!!
How can the US afford to go to war but not afford to look after its poorest citizens? How can you use God in your arguement but not follow the guidance of Jesus?
I think the President tries very hard to speak to and with his political opponents, but he has a hard time of it because there are so few left who are willing to talk in a frank and honest manner about policy issues. The truth of the matter – and this first became evident under President George W. Bush, but has only gotten worse – is that the Republican Party no longer has any substantial policy apparatus, but bases all its decisions on solely political concerns. It’s hard to compromise with someone whose only goal is your own failure, who values your failure more than the country’s success. Many of the President’s supporters believe that, if anything, he gives too much of his time to Republican lawmakers and Fox News.
On behalf of the silent majority of reasonable Americans, I hope this bill passes, and our lawmakers are not intimidated by the hysteria of Lorraine and her ilk.
By the way Lorraine, if you believe only God should decide what unborn children live or die, and thus that lawful medical procedures are an affront to God, then I hope you don’t avail yourself of prenatal care. If God decides it’s your baby’s time to die, who are doctors to interfere?
I’m an American citizen. I thank John for the good post. I keep hearing people – I believe a very loud minority – saying Omama is a “dictator” and other such nonsense. Look at FOX News and the bias in reporting. It’s a sad day when people can’t simply accept that they disagree with the politician on matters of policy and instead have to twist everything and misrepresent motives and ideas. President Obama is not a dictater. But he is President, and he has a Democratic Majority in Congress. Folks need to get over it.
Dear Chuck – Take your blinders off and see Obama for what he is. He is a dictator and does not care about the country or the people of the USA. He only cares about himself and what he wants to do. He will do what he wants and the hell with everyone else. Obama should resign from office.
juvenile John, you wrote a pretty good response until you answered Lorrain. That part was quite juvenile in my opinion. That said, this president will say or do anything to have his idea’s made law. He has reversed himself, blamed Bush and promised the moon. He and the congress are not listening to the people. I doubt you are part of the silent majority. You have spoken out. This bill is a travesty. You say the supporters believe Osama gives too much time to Fox and Republican lawmakers. I wish you would follow up with when he did all of this with Fox. I don’t think you are very accurate there. He looked foolish trying to answer the questions given to him. He does not know what is in this bill, and WAS NOT ABLE to give informed answers. Instead he would change the subject, or give a partial answer. Since the beginning he has called this a “crisis” that must be addressed with the utmost urgency. There is no crisis. There are things that need to be fixed, but there is not a need to completely restructure health care in a rush like he is doing purely for political purposes. No one really knows what is in this bill. Nancy Pelosi is making back room deals. It is Chicago politics at its best. Why does a bill for health care include student loans? We are going to leave our children and grandchildren a terrible debt, and I fear for them. We should fix this problem openly and thoughtfully step by step. The first step should be with the lawyers.
I find it amazing that anyone can state an opinion about the bill if they haven’t read it. If we only listen to those people who are interpreting it, no matter whose “side” they are on, how accurate and unbiased is it going to be? Each side will grab their talking points and run with them.
Educate yourselves with your own eyes before making any opinion. Read the bill and then type.
Well said Dave, is you have not read it, your opinion is worthless.
