Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Director Search to Continue

The search for a director for the anticipated and upcoming Twilight saga installment ‘Breaking Dawn’ will continue, despite rumors that New Moon director Chris Weitz would return for the project.

A representative for the ‘New Moon’ director dispelled the rumors by announcing that Weitz, who left the project after the film’s end, would not be returning to direct ‘Breaking Dawn’. Each movie installment of the Twilight saga has seen a new director, although the cast has remained relatively unchanged. Catherine Hardwicke directed the first movie, ‘Twilight’ and horror director David Slade took his hand at directing ‘Eclipse’.

It is rumored that both Sofia Coppola and Gus Van Sant have been asked to direct ‘Breaking Dawn’, which may be broken down into two installments. Only Van Sant’s representatives have confirmed that he was being considered to direct the much anticipated film.

The Twilight Saga is a four part book series by Stephenie Meyer that centers around the love between teen mortal Bella Swan and vampire teen Edward Cullen. The series is set primarily in Washington State and details the trials and tribulations that they face in their ill fated romance.

The book and movie series is popular with the ‘tween crowd.

Sydney – shut up and go and grow a brain cell or two, you have no idea what you’re talking about…CATHERINE produced an amazing movie…

  5. Kelstar says:

i hope they find someone who will stay true to Breaking Book its my fav and i hope they keep all the good bits in. Summit has got some good directors in mind so far but i wouldnt mind seeing Ron Howard to direct Breaking dawn and to be split into 2 films

  6. Peter says:

I vote for Ron Howard and definitely not Catherine Hardwicke – I agree that she ruined the first one. I couldn’t even watch the director’s special feature she just rubbed me the wrong way.

  7. Choice says:

I am looking forward to the new director. All the previous directors had somthing to bring to the table and each made a great movie. Catherine Hardwicke was good for Twilight it started off with a nice hit and for anyone that says it sucked then why are you still watching it in your room. Chris Weitz was a great director for Twilight Saga New Moon he kept the feelings with the action. David Slade was a greater director he made feel all the feelings from the book and the action is really cool. So summit will keep the story alive and get the Best director for the last installment of this wonderful story.
