Philadelphia Man Arrested for Death Threats on Cantor

U.S. House of Representatives Minority Whip Eric Cantor has reported that he has received death threats on himself as well as his family and has even had a gunshot penetrate the window of his unoccupied office.

Cantor received a death threat for himself and his family through YouTube video which has been taken down from the site. Following the threat, a window in Cantor’s unoccupied office was shattered by a bullet at around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning. Police reported that the bullet was shot into the air and hit the window on its way down. The bullet landed on the floor of Cantor’s office on the way down, about a foot from the window.

Norman Leboon, 33, of Philadelphia, Pa. has been charged with the threat and gunshots. According to the U.S. attorney’s office, he is being charged with threatening to kill a member of Congress as well as interfering with his federal duties. Both charges are punishable by up to 15 years in prison, three years supervised release, a fine up to $500,000, and a $200 special assessment.

The threat and gunshots come on the heals of the passing of the healthcare bill.
