Disney Bus Accident Leaves Boy Dead

Florida – A nine year old boy boy was struck and killed Thursday by a Walt Disney World bus.

The boy, Chas Brubaker of St. Petersburg, Florida, was riding his bicycle with a friend at the Fort Wilderness Campground at Walt Disney World when the incident occurred. It is unclear why the boy left the sidewalk and crossed into the two lane road that circles the campground. Although the boy was wearing a helmet, he was run over by the right rear wheel of the bus. There is evidence showing that the boy had struck the side of the bus. It is unclear whether the driver saw the boy before the incident. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were 28 passengers on the bus, some of who saw or heard the incident when it occurred.

A woman who did not identify herself believes to have seen the boy riding along side tBus driver David Rich stopped the bus immediately following the accident. Rich has been working in Disney World’s transportation department for nearly three decades.

The accident coincides with one of the parks busiest tourist seasons.
