The View’s Elisabeth Hasselbeck Tearful Apology

After making comments that Dancing With The Stars contestant Erin Andrews should tone down the outfits that she was wearing on the show, ABC’s daytime talkshow The View and co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck has made a tearful apology about the off color remarks that she made about Andrews.

On a recent airing of The View, Hasselbeck tearfully apologized to Andrews. Erin Andrews is a sports reporter for ESPN who was part of a spying case in which she was recorded undressing in her hotel room by an alledged stalker who was charged and sent to prison. The comments that Hasselbeck made were about the stalker and she also stated that he could have seen just as much if he was watching her performances on Dancing With The Stars.

Hasselbeck has said that after the show in which she made the comments that she felt bad and that it was her 5 year old daughter that told her that she should apologize to Andrews. She mentioned that in her apology and said that she listened to her daughter and after thinking about it decided to make an on air apology. There has been no word of the reaction of Erin Andrews concerning the apology.

Hasselcrack is a mean spirited, nasty woman. How dare she judge, on air, Erin’s dance costumes. Small minded comments like these lead to such heartache. Erin Andrews has been subjected to very recent traumatic experiences. Ms Hasselcrack, you should not have the following or popularity that you do, you do not deserve admiration from the public, the fact that it took your 5 year old to talk some sense into your thick skull, is disgusting!

    • Joe says:

She begins her piece calling her Hasselcrack and then says SHE is mean spirited!!!!!!

    • Cheri says:

Amen, when she opens her mouth i turn the channel. She is no comedian, not an actress and she is no preacher, but she thinks her opinion of everything is worthy.NOT!!!!!!! Life is too short for a commentator like her to think people will smile and be happy after her comments. This planet is and has suffered loss in all aspects of life and we all need inspiration not negative people like Elizabeth Hasselback.

  2. searchworld says:

First Erin Andrews milks the stalker incident for all it’s worth, and now she’ll probably milk the Elisabeth Hasselbeck comments for all they’re worth. Elisabeth only said what everyone else was thinking. The costumes, like Erin, are fug. Vote her off.

    • Henry Hale says:

      @searchworld
You have to be the most ignorant person in the world. A woman doesn’t “milk” a traumatic experience. It’s people like you that make humans look like neanderthals. Stupid people, like you and Hasselbeck, don’t have the morals to respect the bad experience this woman has had. I guess that’s why so many of you sit at your PC and spew this garbage all day.

  3. PJ says:

Good grief!!!!!!!!!! Why does everyone care so much what Ms. Hasselbeck has said, it was her opinion. It does not matter to me what she thinks or for that matter what anyone thinks in any public forum. It is exactly that…her opinion. As for wears or does not wear is about as important to me and none of this affects my life in any way. I am more concerned about matters which do. Anyone as tired of the Political Correct crap as I am. Come on media…get a grip. We, as Americans have a lot more to be concerned with than
this silly stuff. It is absolutely so petty it is em-barrassing. Leave this for the teenagers to do, we have already been there as adults.

  4. Leigh says:

Why is it that when Joy Behar or any other panel memebers on this program “judge” unfairly its smoothed over but God forbid Elisabeth say anything, she all of a sudden dosent have the rights the rest of the view are afforded!!! Gimme a break, please…

    • Becky says:

      Amen!

    • Henry Hale says:

Like most of the undereducated, you didn’t read the story in full. No one demanded an apology or said anything about Hasselbeck. If you had paid attention in reading class and learned to read for comprehension, you would realize that she made the decision to do this, based on a conversation with her daughter. This is our country as we know-uneducated, dumb, and cannot keep a thought in their heads for more than 30 seconds.

    • Cindy says:

Leigh, perhaps the reason Joy or the other panel members on the View don’t get as much flack over comments they make is because Hasselbeck is always trying to come off as the good Christian but isn’t very good at it. She’s judgemental, smug and PHONEY. The other panel members aren’t “getting away” with anything, they’re just saying exactly what they mean instead of hiding behind a manufactured image of goody-goody as Hasselbeck does. There is absolutely NOTHING genuine or sincere about Elizabeth Hasselbeck.

  5. Colleen says:

Sad world that we live in, when standing up for modesty requires an appology.

    • June D lopez says:

      Well said, Colleen.

    • Cindy says:

Colleen…if “standing up for modesty” was the goal here, that would be one thing. However, Hasselbeck chastized Erin Andrews for wearing THE SAME kind of outfits worn by dancers all over the world! Professional skaters, dancers and music artists have been wearing these outfits forever and all of a sudden, holier-than-though Hasselbeck decides to not only go after her but also basically says “you got what you deserved when some pervert taped you in private”!

Elizabeth Hasselbeck is as right wing CRAZY as it gets AND as hypocritical and judgemental! Maybe she should do what she does best, stay on her back and spit out little Christian babies, who, it seems, have better manners and more compassion than their Mommy.

  6. crusher@whidbey.com says:

Kim says it all….it is true. hasslecrack in the head is true. She is mean spirited and very very narrowminded. Thinks only of herself and so called “Christian” values which she has none of. She is typical right wing male dressed in female clothing and has no value for women at all……uggggg, get that person off of TV…we do not need her. and for judging, she will be judged by her comments…little miss hypocritcal.

    • Sean says:

Spoken like a true liberal. It is a sad time when so many in this country feel as you do. I admire her for speaking the truth.

  7. Harold says:

Any time someone makes statements “She is typical right wing male dressed in female clothing and has no value for women at all” and “so called “Christian”, you can bet you probably have a politically correct bigot, the most dangerous bigots of all. They have the attitule that if you are not exactly like me, there must be something wrong with you.

  8. rob sampson says:

she is very mean crying on tv did not change her she is still mean get her off the View

  9. Erica says:

Alot of us,including,Ms. Hasselback,or whatever, seem to forget that in America we have a right to voice our “view”. I thought that was the whole point of the show. Giving an apology on air about something you expressed as your sincere view, and then giving some acted out, teary eyed rebuff says way more about her moral character. I just think- consider the source.

  10. Ann says:

She was just speaking her mind….not always a bad thing.

  11. Gwen says:

The only people/person Hasselbeck can truly judge is her husband and kids and we the public don’t want to here about them. Barbara Walton was in poor taste of adding the very, very young stupid female to the cast of The View. Lisa Ling was 100% a better choice than she. Everytime she open her mouth on an opinion she needs to make a apology. Did she get selected for The View just to cause conflict? Pay attention on how Whoopi and Joy look when she open her mouth to speak. She will be the death of The View. Out of all women in the public eye Barbara could pick a better person. Some would perfer Star Jones than to have on the show, at least she is an attorney and know what to say and how to say it on the television.

  12. barb says:

I stopped wathcing the view when Hasselbeck started and this is just another example that proves my point. She only had something to say about Erin??? They all wear next to nothing, that’s the look for this kind of dancing. Let her dumbass get up there and try it in a full sweater and big girl panties.

  13. Lacy says:

Who cares about Hasselbeck’s damn opinions and the way Erin Andrews dresses? Their business. And it’s true that Hasselbeck only thinks of herself, which is fine. But her so called Christian values is BS. Always getting political with her opinions thinking her way is always the right way. BS. Very narrowminded B….

  14. Henry Hale says:

Before you right wingnuts get your shorts all bunched up, this wasn’t demanded or prompted by anyone other than Hasselbeck and whatever conversation she had with her daughter. You cannot put this on the intelligent people on the show.

  15. Michelle says:

When will you Liberals stop the double standard?? Anyone else on that show can say WHATEVER they want, and get (mostly phony) laughs, but if someone else says something not deemed politically correct, all Hell breaks loose? Political Cowardice has GOT to be stopped!!

  16. Marlene says:

Hasselbeck I can’t stand. She is so extremely opinionated and it makes me SICK! Next time, KEEP YOUR NASTY MOUTH SHUT you B***H!

  17. stacy says:

nobody cares about this story anyway… go enjoy the weekend, people!

  18. duh! says:

Oh Canada! When someone is prosecuted and sent to prison, their status is no longer “alleged”. And try spellcheck, it’s not “alledged”. Stick to maple syrup.

  19. AD2 says:

What a sad world we live in when people are upset about an opinion that had no true meaning behind it. What people should be upset about is White activist or black activist or any color activist protesting, using their 1st amendment right to speak about hating one another, killing off one another because they think one race is superior to another. Come on people, in this era we have so many ways to change the world and views. Instead, we focus on things that dont matter like celebrity gossip and statements, instead of the real world hatred. In this time of the world we are as diversed as ever, and it going to become more and more mixed children. We as adults need to make sure our children see no race, know their culture but except and want to learn others. Seriously people get it together…Stop the ignorance.

  20. Rich says:

First off, Mrs. Hasselbeck owes no one an apology. She gets paid to voice her opinion on that show and she was hired for her conservative nature. Second, Mrs. Hasselbeck’s comment was addressing an issue that nneds to be discussed and that is Ms. Andrews manipulation of her 15 minutes of fame by exposing to the world the very thing that she felt violated about. Ms. Andrews has chosen to disregard her dignity and self respect. Third, Mrs. Hasselbeck has demonstrated tremendously the christian values that she values. We are all with sin and from time to time we all make mistakes. Again, no one has asked for her to apologize other than her 5 y/o daughter. Mrs. Hasselback chose to reflect on the situation and chose to accept responsibility for something she felt she had gone too far with. Her apology was from the heart and not a scripted PR scene so that people could hear insincere words. This is what a christian does. We seek God out and turn our problems over to Him and He, in turn, will show us a way.
Finally, both Kim and crusher.com should do some reflection of their own. Both has made mean spirited remarks about Mrs. Hasselbeck. Both have mischaracterized who Mrs. Hasselbeck is and what she has demonmstrated with her actions in the past. However, this is the USA and we do have a first amendment right to free speech. The responsibility for how we choose to use this right is within each of us. Use it wisely.

  21. AD2 says:

And another thing.. Opinion and judgement are the samething. Some of you are saying how Hasslebeck was being JUDGEMENTAL because of the OPINIONS she made. Well the OPINIONS you guys made about her sound awfully A lot like JUDGEMENT to me….Stop the Ignorance!!

  22. barb says:

Not quite sure who Elisabeth thinks she is. Look at what she wears. What happened to Erin was not her fault and has nothing to do with what she wears on the “Dancing With The Stars” show. Perhaps they don’t have as much input into costumes as we all think. Nonetheless, For Elisabeth to judge someone else on what she wears, she should look at herself. She is too opinionated for the show and should not be on it. She seems to push her opinions on her others and perhaps it is time for others to return the favor. Her apology is worthless and for her not to even think about an apology until her daughter..my god, her daughter had to tell her. She just lacks common sense and has lost all credibility.

  23. paula mizzi says:

Sorry, what a joke.Elisabeth is not sorry at all,and shows her true character. In these times we live in to make light of something so morally comptemptible.Erin should not have accepted her apology to teach her a lesson. It is not the first time Elisabeth has gone too far,she comes over as a self righteous spoiled brat, and should be fired.

  24. Hannah says:

Hasselcrack should go off air, what a small minded woman to belittle the stalker incident. Shame on you Hasselcrack, what if it happened to you and someone made a thoughtless joke about it. Try to think before saying anything next time.

  25. Sherry says:

when she was on Survivors did she worry about how many times she her tiny bikini didn’t cover her body parts and they were blank out..i watched survivor but did not cut you down for that..let he who is with out sin cast the first stone.. and Liz it is not you.you come on as a goody 2 shoes..and you aren’t you are the reason I NO LONGER WATCH THE VIEW.judge not lest u be judged

  26. jojo says:

This is crazy .. i got this via a news thing,I read on the net.. REALLY… opinions are opinions every one has one .chill out .. by “judging” stating your opinion you all have been doing it on here about elizabeth . judging for judging …let us look at the spear in our own eye befor looking at the speck in someone else..come lets grow up.

  27. keissa says:

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a classy lady and I love watching the View to hear what she has to say as well as the rest of the ladies. I don’t think she had any reason to apologize. She stated her opinion, that’s it. Erin Andrews on the other hand, expects people to sympathize with her in regards to being photographed nude, yet portrays herself as a sex object in the costumes she wears…mixed messages I’d say. Of course I think the costume thing was all a gimmick to get people watching and talking exactly for that reason. Elisabeth, keep up the good work and stop apologizing for saying something so many people were thinking.

  28. searchworld says:

My, Henry Hale, you certainly sound personally invested in Erin Andrew’s sordid little life. In fact, you sound almost like Erin Andrews herself.

The woman lied about an FBI investigation into alleged threatening letters forcing her off DWTS. That’s how she’s milking the stalking incident. She tried to get on DWTS for years only to be told she wasn’t a big enough star. She was only allowed on once the stalker incident happened. This entire mess is beginning to stink like the Paris Hilton sex tapes. Wouldn’t be surprised to find Erin Andrews is involved in a lot more sordid things than merely sleeping with married men.

  29. Michelle says:

We all say things we should not and without TV cameras
on us. Having said this, I havn’t been watching the
View as much because I really do not enjoy Elizabeth.
There is just something about her. I am sure she
is a lovely person (Loved her on Survivor) just do not like
    her on a talk show.

I know I would devote to watching The View most days
if I didn’t have to turn into to Mrs. Hasselbeck.

  30. Phoebe says:

What about Whoopi Goldberg’s comments, “It’s not rape-rape”. What a freak. Why isn’t there moral outrage over that?
