Metal pioneer Ronnie James Dio is not dead. He is in a hospital in Houston receiving treatment for cancer. Earlier in the month Dio canceled his summer tour, Heaven and Hell due to his illness. After news of his death started making waves on sites like facebook and twitter his wife reported that they were false and that he is very ill but hanging on.
The singer started Chemotherapy in late ’09. He spoke openly about the treatments last month at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards in Los Angeles. He stated that he felt positive about his future and prayed for many more positive days with his family. Wendy Dio, Ronnie’s wife, made a statement earlier today that she will keep the public updated on his health status.
He became well known in the mid ’70′s when he became the lead singer of the metal band Rainbow. Their first album was released in 1975 to a moderate level of success. He left Rainbow in 1979 to front Black Sabbath replacing Ozzy Osbourne. He is credited for their comeback release titled Heaven and Hell. In 1982 he formed his own band Dio. In January 2007 he was entered in the Rock Walk of Fame in Hollywood, CA.

While I’m eager to believe this uncited article, which would imply that Ronnie James Dio managed to survive his own death (as all of his fans knew he would, for metal never dies). However a number of official sources have initially reported his death and are now failing to load.
