Glenn Beck and Rep. Anthony Weiner feud over Goldline

Democatic Rep. Anthony Weiner issued a report which claims that Goldline International Inc. is ripping off consumers. Goldline, which sells gold, advertises on Glenn Beck and other conservative talk shows, which Weiner has called an unholy alliance. Beck and other conservative commentators are accused, by Weiner, of praising investing in gold as the only sound way of securing people’s livelihoods. Then the shows will immediately go to commercials for Goldline.

The New York congressman accuses the California company of overcharging and playing on the consumer’s fear of inflation. Weiner further stated that Goldmine uses misleading sales tactics which works on the fears of the public regarding the economy. Goldmine’s CEO, Mark Albarian claims that Weiner’s report is politically motivated and denied they overcharge or manipulate the public.

Glen Beck has been accused of a conflict of interest. His endorsement is very prominent on Goldmine’s website.

Glen Beck has attacked Rep. Weiner, comparing him to the disgraced late Sen. Joe McCarthy. In Beck’s words, we are now in McCarthy land. Beck has requested that his radio listeners send in pictures of Rep. Weiner with a weiner as a nose.

Weiner replied to Beck’s criticism as just a deflection of Beck’s promoting of Goldmine. The Democratic congressman said that Beck is helping Goldmine rip people off.

  1. Jim says:

I’ve heard that the U.S. government may start selling the 250 million ounces that it has in reserve at Fort Knox. If true, then it won’t matter whether Goldline is gouging its customers. Every gold bug out there will get squashed.
