Always one for causing controversy, fans went crazy when they saw Lady Gaga’s strange, cartoon character eyes in her “Bad Romance” video. It soon became a huge quest for fans and admirers to try to find contacts so they too, could get this look.

While it is most likely that the cartoon-like eyes Lady Gaga has in her video are the result of a computer, those who wanted to copy the look found they could get these contacts imported all the way from Asia. These odd contact lenses not only make the eyes appear abnormally large, but they come in a variety of different colors as well such as pink and violet.

Just as the contact lenses are strange they have also been deemed dangerous to the wearer as well and are currently not being sold in the US. However, most have turned to ordering them over the internet. The bad news is is that the contact lenses, although they may be fashionable to some, can cause serious damage to the cornea and may even cause blindness to the wearer. These contact lenses not only cover the iris but the whites of the eyes too.

Eye doctors warn patients that there is a valid reason for why these contacts and other fashion contact lenses are not sold without a prescription. To get a proper fit eye doctors must do a thorough exam to ensure patients get the correct size, strength and other important features so their eye sight does not suffer. When one turns to ordering contact lenses over the internet, the companies they are ordering from often just ask the customer to put in their own specifications with their being no guarantee they will actually fit.

The FDA is very upset over the availability of the lenses and warns that these can be very hazardous.
