A Marvel Studios adaptation of the Thor comics debuted at Comic-Con this weekend in full 3D, one of several Avengers to receive Comic-Con features.
Kenneth Branagh will be directing the movie version, with Chris Hemsworth starring in the role of Thor. Anthony Hopkins will play Thor’s father, Odin; brother Loki will be taken up by Tom Hiddleston. The five minute official trailer switched between Thor undergoing interrogation on Earth and a recounting of how he was cast out from Asgard. The popular Destroyer armor made brief cameos during the trailer and on the display floor as well.
A brief view of Thor’s mighty hammer landing in the desert aired at the conclusion of Iron Man 2. A fan trailer purporting to be the official trailer has been circulating on YouTube, but sources say due to the 3D effects in the official trailer, any pirated version would appear blurry and out of focus.
A number of other Avengers cast mates were also in attendance at Comic-Con, including Clark Gregg, Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, and Scarlett Johansson. A full Avengers movie is believed to be set for 2012 release.
Thor is currently set to be released on May 6th, 2011.
