Lady Gaga To Perform Duet With Canadian Maria Aragon Singing Born This Way

Maria Aragon, a 10 year old Filipino-Canadian singer from Winnipeg, has recently stepped into international fame. Earlier this week she uploaded a video cover of Lady Gaga’s new hit single, “Born This Way.” Aragon, shown online in her YouTube performance, demonstrates amazing singing ability. In the video, she accompanies herself on the keyboard.

Ms. Aragon’s stripped-down vocal performance has attracted the attention of Lady Gaga herself, who reportedly cried while watching it. Lady Gaga responded to the video and reposted it via Twitter; later on television talk show host Ellen DeGeneres forwarded it as well, helping shoot the video to international fame.

Worldwide, the video has been acclaimed for its talent, and has helped shine a spotlight on Canada itself as a home of rising talent.

After viewing Ms. Aragon’s video, Lady Gaga arranged to speak with her, enlisting the help of a local radio station. While Lady Gaga was speaking with Ms. Aragon on air, she invited her to perform a duet of “Born This Way.”

Ms. Aragon immediately agreed, and the duet is expected to be performed in March when Lady Gaga is in Toronto. Virgin Radio has offered to fly Ms. Aragon to Toronto for the concert.
