Immigrant Smuggling Game Denied By Apple

A game for the iPhone that apparently involves driving immigrants from Mexico into the United States has been rejected by Apple.

The game is called Smuggle Truck: Operation Immigration and the makers of the game said only that the rejection by Apple was content related. Apple did accept the company’s other game, Snuggle Truck. In Snuggle Truck players bring animals from the wild to a zoo.

Owlchemy Labs is the creator of both games. They came under attack by immigration rights groups back in February over the game Smuggle Truck: Operation Immigration. Immigration advocates said the game trivialized the plight of immigrants and how they risked their lives to get to the United States.

Some people are not pleased with Apple’s decision to ban the game. Jorge-Mario Cabrera of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights thought that the consumers should have been allowed to decide to download it or not.
