Phillip Phillips Will Not Have Surgery This Week Due To Complications

No Surgery Now for Idol Winner Phillip Phillips

This seasons American Idol winner, Phillip Phillips, was scheduled to have kidney surgery today to correct damage to his right kidney.

The singer’s surgery was postponed due to his suffering from a sinus infection. The infection caused him to have a very high temperature making the surgery risky.

Doctors have determined they must restructure his kidney to alleviate his frequent kidney stone issues. Phillips underwent eight surgeries during this seasons American Idol due to the major pain he suffered. His doctors continually told him to drop out of the competition in order to have the surgery but he refused.

Phillips reported that his right kidney was not functioning properly. He said he has a stent in to help with the process.

Phillips’ girlfriend, Hannah Blackwell, refuted an earlier TMZ report on Twitter Monday with an update on the 21-year-old Leesburg, Ga., singer’s medical condition.

“Phillip’s surgery is not tomorrow,” tweeted Blackwell on the microblogging site. “He will be fine when it is scheduled and is excited for tour. Thanks for your concern and respect.”

The Idol winner said he plans to perform at all of the tour dates and that he will be 100 per cent by the beginning of the tour.

The surgery will be rescheduled for next week.
