Red Dwarf Returns With An X

Dave Lister, the last living human, returns to television after a 13-year break. The beloved campy sci-fi series “Red Dwarf” returned after much anticipation. “Red Dwarf” originally aired in the late 1980s and had a three episode miniseries in 2009. It was never truly canceled. Production was halted in 1999 to film a movie that never developed.

It has returned to the air in the UK on the network Dave under the name “Red Dwarf X”, a reference to the 10th season of the show.

The first episode, Trojan, aired in the UK October 4th. Air dates for the US are still unclear, but early hints seem to point to PBS being the network to watch.

The show follows Dave, his holographic crewmate Arnold Rimmer, their android butler Kryten, and the ship’s humanoid pet Cat.

A radiation leak on the gigantic mining ship Red Dwarf locks Dave in suspended animation for 3 million years until the ship is safe. T

he onboard computer, Holly, resurrects Dave’s friend Arnold as a hologram to keep him sane. Dave’s pregnant cat had been hiding in the cargo bay and was protected from the accident. So were the generations of her offspring that evolved into Cat.
