Chilli Peppers’ bass player Flea celebrates 50th

Celebrating his 50th birthday on October 16th Red Hot Chilli Peppers bass player Flea held a celebrity attended party in the backyard of his Los Angeles home.

An event to celebrate his life, Flea’s birthday party also acted as a fundraiser for the non profit Silver Lake Conservatory Music School founded by the rock star in 2001.

A sit down dinner and silent auction, featuring the work of artists Banksy and Takashi Murakami was followed by a concert featuring Flea and his bandmates of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Other performers who entertained the celebrity guests included Rancid and Ben Harper, who sang Happy Birthday to Flea. The appearance of Rancid was particularly appreciated by Flea as the lead singer of the band, Tim Armstrong had previously attended the Silver Lake Conservatory as a student; Flea often teaches at the non profit school in Los Angeles during his free time from touring and recording with the Chilli Peppers.
