Johnny Depp has thrilled audiences for decades with various movie roles, but it wasn’t until he starred in the first of “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies that he discovered his ideal retreat: a private island of his own.
That place turned out to be Little Hall’s Pond Cay in the Exumas; the Exumas are a district of the Bahamas and their largest one at that. As for his own island, it is by definition a cay meaning it is small island, low elevation, and sits atop a coral reef. Cays are known for their sandy beaches.
His private island cost $3.6M which is quite reasonable. Some of the rich and famous have paid far more for a mere mansion. Depp also operates the Island off solar power. He finds that when he needs to get away and enjoy that “stranded on a remote beach” feeling, this is the place.
According to Howtobuyaprivateisland, Depp gets around his private oasis in a fleet of green golf carts.
Depp arrives in his private harbour aboard his 156 foot steam powered boat called Vajoliroja. The boat uses the first two letters of Vanessa, Johnny, Lily Rose and Jack.
Its remoteness keeps the paparazzi away hence the name “F-off” island as Depp affectionately terms it.
He even invited the embattled actress Lindsey Lohan to the Cay to get over a much needed rest from the public eye. However, in her case it hasn’t helped much. Depp is adamant about this place being his secret sanctum and keeps the general public away from it.
