‘Walking Dead’ spin-off gets green light for 2015

‘Walking Dead’ spin-off

The hit AMC zombie apocalypse series, ‘The Walking Dead’ has a spinoff in the works for 2015. The 3 year success of the show has the producers coming together to create a brand new series that’s based off the original. Producer Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert are all on board for executive producing this project to show an alternative side to the zombie world.

“Building on the success of the most popular show on television for adults 18-49 is literally a no-brainer,” said Charlie Collier, AMC’s president and general manager. It’s not a re-hash of the story, but a new development and characters. It’s interesting to see how disparate or similar these stories go together as both series build up. Additionally, the co-creator and writer of the comic book, Kirkman, is excited on how they will build a new story from scratch. The creative difference between this story and the one loosely based off the comic should be great.

Fans will definitely enjoy what Kirkman and AMC have in store for the future. For now, fans can get ready for the season 4 premiere of ‘The Walking Dead’ on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
