NBC Addresses Ratings Issues With Quick Cancellations

NBC has announced the first casualties of the new 2013 fall season. The first two victims to fall prey to poor rating are “Ironside” staring Blair Underwood and “Welcome to the Family.” Both shows have been cancelled effective immediately. Both shows were reportedly averaging less than three million viewers.

“Ironside” was a remake of the popular 60s & 70s show starring Aaron Burr as a wheelchair bound cop working his cases. “Welcome to the Family” was a show about two families who try to co-exist after their teenagers conceive a baby together. NBC will attempt to fill the void with a new spin-off from “Chicago Fire” called “Chicago PD.”

All of this comes as NBC attempts to climb out of the bottom of the ratings war. Other shows mentioned as problematic due to low ratings include “Sean Saves the World” and “The Michael J Fox Show.” Michael J Fox has a history of sitcom success, so it may be a bit of a surprise that the show is performing so far below expectations.

It is noteworthy that while NBC released numerous new additions to their fall lineup, they have not yet found any pleasant surprises aside from perhaps “The Blacklst'”
