Fans of the 1980s ABC-TV series “The Love Boat” won’t want to miss a reunion of cast members taking place the first week of November on the CBS daytime gabfest “The Talk”. “Love Boat” Captain Gavin MacLeod, ship’s doctor Bernie Koppell, purser Fred Grandy, Bartender Ted Lange, ship’s cruise director Lauren Tewes and the Captain’s daughter Jill Whelan are all set to appear on the reunion. Cast members are expected to reveal some behind the scenes memories and secrets in addition to naming which guest stars and episode plot lines were among their favorites.
All of the cast have gone on in the acting profession since “Love Boat” went off the air, with the exception of Fred Grandy, who became a U.S. Congressman and then President of Goodwill Industries. The occasion of the reunion is the release of MacLeod’s new autobiography: “This is Your Captain Speaking: My Fantastic Voyage through Hollywood, Faith & Life.” Singer Jack Jones will also join the group and provide a live rendition of the show’s popular theme song which began every episode over the course of nine seasons, lasting from 1977 when it premiered to 1986 when the ship took its final celebrity-studded cruise.
This isn’t the first time the cast have come together for a reunion.
Ten years after The Love Boat docked for the last time, the cast reunited for the first time in 1997 on Oprah’s stage.
The Talk airs weekdays at 2 p.m. /ET and 1 p.m./PT on CBS. Are you excited for The Love Boat reunion?
