Kansas City, Missouri – Miley Cyrus was set to perform today in this city of 464,000 people. However, she’s not fully recuperated from a bout with the flu. As illnesses go, if they are not properly tended to the body’s immune system can degrade opening the person up to other infections or illnesses. It appears that such may be the case with Ms. Cyrus. It was only last week that the flu knocked her off her feet leading to a cancellation of her Charlotte, North Carolina gig. At the time, she was ordered to get plenty of rest, but it is obviously how closely she followed that counsel.
This week she took some type of antibiotic to deal with an undisclosed illness and the reaction in her body was said to be “severe”. In fact, she had to be hospitalized. She has subsequently canceled her performance tonight. She tweeted fans that she is bummed about not being able to see them. Concert promoters will be refunding ticket holders and likely filing a claim with the insurer of her concert to recoup their losses.
Cyrus embarked on a North American and European tour in support of her “Bangerz”. The recording has been a commercial success topping sales of 1 million units in the United States and topping charts in the United States, United Kingdom, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Norway, Switzerland, and Australia.
In total, she has scheduled 60 concerts to promote the album. She has completed half of the concerts thus far. She is set to take the stage in Saint Louis Wednesday night. It is uncertain whether she will be fit for performance. Quite likely, doctors’ orders will require she continue with bed rest until she has fully recovered. However, the 21-year-old may not heed their counsel. Youth is truly wasted on the young.
