The evangelist accused of forcing young girls into marriage with him, has been sentenced to 175 years in
prison. The self proclaimed prophet, Tony Alamo has made millions of dollars off of his so called ministry. He is the leader of the Tony Alamo Christian Ministries.
The Arkansas court found him guilty of child abuse and transporting girls across state lines. Alamo whose real name is Bernie Hoffman was busted in 2008 for transporting five girls across the state line. He was arrested at his 15 acre estate in Texarkana, Arkansas. The charges go all the way back to 1994.
He is believed to abused girls as young as eight years old. Only three of the five girls filed official complaints against Alamo, who is 75 years old. Alamo was fined $250,000 as well. He is due in court in January 2010 for a judge to determine if he must pay the victims any restitution.
Alamo claims he is innocent, and the charges are made up. He claims to love children, and that he would never do anything to hurt any child. His lawyer has filed an appeal.

If this man is quilty of these horrible crimes, shame on him. In Luke 17, Jesus is speaking to his disciples when he says,”if anyone who calls my name(claims to be a christian)and causes one of these little ones to stumble(lose faith)Then it would be better for them if a millstone were wrapped around their necks and be thrown into the ocean. I wouldn’t want to be him on judgement day.
Kathy I’m in agreement with you. This is sad yet possible when we take our eyes off Christ and exalt ourselves above measure. May the Lord help the young girls he raped and abused. May they know Christ and be able to process this horrible event.
as is so usual for the media, if it has to deal with any faith based organization and its negative publish it we can always print a retraction later. it is an awful thing to imagine having happened to any girl let alone to multiple girls. that is alot of lives destroyed… it really damages the body when something like this happens… and i agree if its really true… then judgement day is not going to be pretty for this guy or many others for that matter. praise be to jesus and all glory honor and power

God has nothing to do with it, the guy is a pervert who preyed on girls using religion as a ruse to get them to do what he wanted. Religion should be banned, it causes more harm than good. How many atheists are convicted of sex crimes? How many atheists have started wars? A lot fewer than people who call themselves God-fearing or believers or whatever. I´m not a fan of communism, but I have to agree with Karl Marx that, ¨religion is the opiate of the masses¨. It gives people a false sense of hope and security, and far more people abuse it than use it for any real good. Religion is just mind control where a group (clergy) control another group (adherents) with whatever so-called tenents of faith they want to use. It is brainwashing, pure and simple, just as bad, if not worse than what the Communists use on the citizens of their countries to control their behavior and get them to believe what they want them to.

I grew up in a church that allowed a head pastor to molest hundreds of children. How dare you call these brave girls whores. Perhaps if it was you or your child, you would feel diferently. Allexus these young girls were too young and you saying they’re a whore? look at yourself using that word whore. This kind of abuse will cause change to both mental and physical being of a child. A true Christian will never do such things to a child.
Why would anyone trust his/her daughter to an older married man? This type of religion is messed up!!! I would rather stick to the religion James tells us is real, the one that looks after the needs of the widows and orphans (in other words, those in need).

By the way Allexus, there is a great difference about the way Jesus handled the accusations against him and the way Mr. Alamo is doing it. Jesus’ mouth was shut because he needed to proof nothing while Mr. Alamo can’t stay quiet even in prison trying to clean his name. If he was innocent, he would stay quiet!
