Phillip Garrido Says “Sorry” in New Letter

Phillip Garrido, the man who allegedly kidnapped, raped, and held  Jaycee Lee Dugard captive for 18 years has apologized in a letter.

“First off I want to apologize to every human being for what has taken place.”

He then describes how reliog has now cured him of his sexual desires.:

“People all over the world are hearing testimony that through the spirit of Christ a mental process took place ending a sexual problem believed to be impossible.”

His lawyer says that Garrido’s mental state is still very much in question.

“Mr. Garrido is expressing genuine remorse. He would like people to consider the fact that he’s a changed man and his story is best told all at one time, instead of in pieces. He presents obvious issues concerning whether or not he is competent to be a defendant, and we are looking into that,” said his attorney, Public Defender Susan Gellman, in a telephone interview Thursday evening from St. Petersburg, Fla.

Garrido remains in custody at the El Dorado County Jail in Placerville as he and wife Nancy Garrido await trial on multiple charges each. They’ve pleaded not guilty.

“To me, this almost rises to the level of what psychologists would call a partial apology. It’s almost like he’s saying, ‘I have a problem, and what I did was a problem.’ But he’s certainly not taking full responsibility for his actions,” said Donna Shestowsky, a law professor at UC Davis with a PhD in psychology.

The kidnapping of Jaycee Lee Dugard took place on June 10, 1991. Dugard was abducted from a school bus stop within sight of her home in South Lake Tahoe, California, United States.

There is NO apology in this world that could justify what he did to a young child. You can go to HELL mr. garrido for all this world cares. Burn Burn Burn

  2. Sabrina says:

Prison for life without parole for BOTH Garrido’s….that is what they gave Jaycee! They are not crazy. The Garrido’s are just sorry they were caught!

  3. bellus says:

I hate it when reports on this case say, “he allegedly kidnapped and raped her”. We know he kidnapped her, and he obviously raped her at a very young age, resulting in the birth of 2 children. I highly doubt she gave herself willingly to a strange man when she was only a child at the time of this horrible crime.

  4. Jim McMunn says:

They stole this girls whole childhood and adolescents. I doubt she’ll ever be normal but I pray that she will. Garrido’s apology falls on deaf ears. He is not crazy, he is a pervert of the worst kind.

  5. ken says:

i don’t think that there is a bad enough punishment allowable! he should be put to death!

  6. russ says:

I agree with sabrina,Mr & Ms Garrido are sorry they were caught, and I doubt someone with this mental state can be cured of his desires so quickly considering he has probably had these sick sexual desires for most of his life, these people deserve more than the punnishment they will recieve.Jail is too easy for them!

  7. S Kislingbury says:

I wish the press would just leave this ego maniac in silence. In his previous sentence of 50 years for the rape and kidnapping of a woman, he wrote to the judge and said he had found religion…that he was cured of his problem and deserved early release!!! which he was GRANTED!!! Religion seems to come and go and only applies to what HE thinks is applicable!!! SEX offenders cannot be cured, law enforcement knows this, the medical and mental communities know this, the penal system knows this…SO WHY DO WE HAVE TO KEEP dealing with these creeps?? WOMEN AND CHILDREN keep being victimized by this insanity…sooo when will we get sick of it and do something about it??

  8. sick of justice system says:

There should also be jail time for the parole officer who let this monster out of prison in 11 years instead of the 50 he was sentenced to!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. eyesblu says:

Way way – every prisoner knows they can pull the Jesus card and get by with it. And quite frankly – i pray he has converted his life, however, he will have to be willing to say that while he spends the rest of his life in prison along with his sicko wife.

  10. Terry says:

This guy should have never been let out to begin with. You cant cure sex offenders…period!!

  11. LOLA says:

HE SHOULD BE PUT IN PRISON FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE SO THE SICKOS ALREADY IN THERE CAN USE HIM THE WAY HE USED JAYCEE .

  12. Bruce says:

When he Cries so hard that blood comes from his eyes
that might convice me he is sorry. As far as punishment, I want to eat popcorn and watch him burn in Hell!!
