The small town of Boring, Oregon became sister cities with Dull, Scotland. It all happened after Elizabeth Leighton, a Scottish tourist, visited the small Oregon town during a vacation.

Boring, Oregon is a town with a population of about 8,000. It got its unintentionally colorful name as a result of being named after its founding father, William H. Boring.

Although there is no clear origin, Dull, Scotland appears to have received its name from a Gaelic word that means meadow or snare. The small town has a population of no more than 84 people.

The unofficial partnership that both cities have decided to share means that businesses in both cities can be creative about the drab name combination. In short, expect to see t-shirts that say “Boring and Dull” being sold shortly.
