Joan and Melissa Rivers are an extremely close mother and daughter duo who share the spotlight in a reality television show.

That closeness was magnified recently when Joan gave her daughter Melissa an injection for her fertility treatments. Melissa Rivers, 44, had a fight with her live in boyfriend and he moved out.

Melissa called on her mother Joan, 78, to perform the necessary injection to continue fertility treatments. Joan Rivers first practiced on an orange. The video clip of the show shows a clearly upset Melissa as the situation unfolded.

Joan, later made light of the situation on Twitter stating, “It was so hard for me to give Melissa her fertility drug injection after Jason walked out! It’s a good thing I never became a junkie.”

Melissa released a statement saying, “I am still trying to process what has come to light over the past few days and I hope that you will respect the privacy of my son and I while we heal.”
