Singer Drops Baby Weight
Pop singer Pink has dropped 55 pounds that she gained during her recent pregnancy by embracing a mostly vegetarian diet to go along with her rigorous workouts. The 32-year-old claims she felt “frumpy” while carrying daughter Willow Sage, who was born in June.
“I thought I’d feel like a goddess,” she said to Cosmopolitan, “Really, I just felt like a mess, but I kind of enjoyed that too. Hell, yeah, I gained 55 pounds. I think my baby may be part cheesecake.”
Along with an hour of yoga, strength-training and cardio workouts, Pink consumes a near-vegetarian diet that allows for occasional fish or chicken. She loves the rush that comes with working out, stating that even if someone hates exercise, the endorphins released are worth the effort.
In a 2009 interview with Women’s Health, the svelt singer revealed some of secret workout tips.
Staying fit on the road: “Usually I wake up and do an hour of cardio, then an hour of P90X or yoga, then a half-hour of warm-up [during show rehearsal]. I do that six days a week.”
Her day off: “I try to make it a show day so I’m still getting cardio. I have to be able to run up those stairs as many times as I do and be able to sing at the same time. I’m an asthmatic. I have to be on that treadmill singing to get my lungs right.”
On her “man abs”: “I get a lot of flak for it. That’s where the masculine thing comes in, people saying it’s not normal for a girl to have [those]. But I’m OK with it. I think it’s because I was a gymnast for eight years, from ages 4 to 12. My body was made before my bones were fully grown. Gymnasts are short, stocky, muscular powerhouses.”
Pink and her husband recently celebrated his 37th birthday with a tasty vegan spread that included kale, onions, truffles and fava beans.
