Boston (eCanadaNow) - An extremely heavy set of twins have been born in North Carolina.

The twins came in at a combined weight of 23 pounds, 1 ounce.

Their parents, Joey and Erin Maynard are said to be happy, and the twins are doing well.

The boy was named Sean William Maynard and weighed 10 pounds, 14 ounces.

The girl was named Abigail Rose Maynard and weighed 12 pounds, 3 ounces.

They are the second-heaviest set of twins ever, behind a pair which weighed 23 pounds, 12 ouncs.  They were born in 1927.
